By Daniel Garris

Sony’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle took in $6.919 M on Wednesday to lead the daily box office for a third consecutive day. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was down 32.2 percent from Tuesday and down 54.7 percent from last Wednesday, as grosses in general are now clearly coming down to Earth from their holiday season highs. Yesterday saw Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle surpass the $200 M domestic mark, which is roughly what the film had been expected to gross throughout its entire run. With a 15-day gross of $202.351 M, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is running an excellent 6.1 percent ahead of the $190.648 M 15-day gross of 2016’s Sing. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will take first place in its third weekend with $31.0 M.

Disney’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi held steady in second place with $5.225 M. That represented a 33.7 percent decline from Tuesday and a very sharp 76.1 percent decrease from last Wednesday. Star Wars: The Last Jedi has grossed a massive $544.614 M in 20 days, which ranks the film in sixth place on the all-time unadjusted domestic list. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is running 20.6 percent ahead of the $451.408 M twenty-day haul of 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Star Wars: The Last Jedi will place in second this weekend with a fourth weekend take of $23.0 M.

Internationally, Star Wars: The Last Jedi grossed an estimated $12.4 M on Wednesday. That brings the international total for Star Wars: The Last Jedi to $563.8 M and global total to $1.108 B. Star Wars: The Last Jedi will open in China on January 5.

Fox’s The Greatest Showman grossed $2.627 M to remain in third. The Greatest Showman was down 28.4 percent from Tuesday and down 43.2 percent from last Wednesday, which represented one of the day’s better percentage holds from last Wednesday among wide releases. The Greatest Showman passed the $60 M domestic mark yesterday and has grossed a very solid $60.722 M in 15 days. That places The Greatest Showman just 13.9 percent behind the $70.512 M 15-day take of 2016’s Passengers. With the continued aid of strong word of mouth, BoxOfficeReport is predicting a fourth place third weekend gross of $11.7 M for The Greatest Showman this weekend.

Universal’s Pitch Perfect 3 continued to claim fourth place with $2.265 M. That represented a 33.3 percent decline from Tuesday and a sharp 64.9 percent decrease from last Wednesday. Pitch Perfect 3 continues to run towards the lower end of scaled back expectations with $73.829 M in thirteen days. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Pitch Perfect 3 will finish in fifth during its third weekend with $8.7 M.

Computer animated films Ferdinand and Coco took fifth and sixth place on Wednesday with respective daily grosses of $1.726 M and $1.247 M.
