Disney’s Coco grossed $1.188 M on Wednesday to top the daily box office for a 22nd consecutive day. Coco continued to display healthy holding power yesterday, as the film declined
32.5 percent from Tuesday and just 25.7 percent from last Wednesday. Coco has grossed $139.715 M through 22 days of release. That places the film 18.3 percent ahead of the $118.136 M 22-day take of 2010’s Tangled
and only 6.2 percent behind the $148.896 M 22-day haul of last year’s Moana. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a $10.3 M third place take for Coco this weekend. |
Lionsgate’s Wonder held steady in second place with $853 K. Wonder was down 25.7 percent from Tuesday and down a very slim 10.9 percent from last Wednesday. Wonder continues to pad
its status as one of the bigger surprise hits of the year with a 27-day total of $103.025 M. That already gives Wonder a current total gross to opening weekend ratio of 3.74 to 1. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a fifth
weekend gross of $5.2 M for Wonder. |
Warner’s Justice League remained in third with $756 K. That represented a 30.9 percent decline from Tuesday and a very solid 32.3 percent decrease from last Wednesday. The 27-day total for
Justice League stands at a softer than expected $214.724 M. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Justice League will gross $4.3 M in its fifth weekend. |
A24 and New Line’s The Disaster Artist was up one spot from Tuesday to take fourth place on Wednesday with $595 K. The Disaster Artist declined just 18.6 percent from Tuesday, which is a
good early sign for the film going forward. The thirteen-day start for The Disaster Artist stands at a promising $9.879 M. With the aid of a small expansion this weekend, The Disaster Artist is being predicted
by BoxOfficeReport to gross $3.7 M this weekend. |
Disney’s Thor: Ragnarok was down one spot from Tuesday to round out Wednesday’s top five with $557 K. Thor: Ragnarok was down 24.8 percent from Tuesday and down only 24.1 percent from last
Wednesday. The 41-day total for Thor: Ragnarok stands at a mighty $302.950 M, which currently ranks the film as the sixth highest grossing 2017 release to date domestically. |
On the platform front, Fox Searchlight’s The Shape of Water grossed $133 K from 41 locations. That gave The Shape of Water an impressive per-location average of $3,243 for the day. The
thirteen-day platform start for The Shape of Water stands at $1.780 M. The Shape of Water will be playing in 158 locations this weekend and expanding into nationwide release the following week on December 22. |
