Disney’s Coco grossed $1.495 M on Monday to lead the daily box office for a thirteenth consecutive day. Coco declined 84.1 percent from Sunday and a solid 35.6 percent from last
Monday. The thirteen-day total for Coco stands at an impressive $111.604 M. In comparison to previous Disney Thanksgiving weekend openers, Coco is running 14.3 percent ahead of the $97.620 M thirteen-day gross
of 2010’s Tangled and just 7.9 percent behind the $121.206 M thirteen-day haul of last year’s Moana. Coco should continue to hold up well throughout the rest of the holiday season thanks in part to very
strong critical reviews and very strong word of mouth. |
Warner’s Justice League claimed second place with $1.138 M. That represented a 75.6 percent slide from Sunday and a respectable 45.9 percent decline from last Monday. Justice League has
grossed a softer than expected $198.545 M in 18 days and is set to surpass the $200 M domestic mark either today or Wednesday. Justice League is running an underwhelming 25.0 percent behind the $264.564 M 18-day take of
last year’s Suicide Squad. |
Lionsgate’s Wonder placed in third with $801 K. Wonder decreased 76.3 percent from Sunday and a very solid 34.6 percent from last Monday. Wonder continues to pad its status as one
of the bigger surprise hits of 2017 with an impressive 18-day total of $88.481 M. That leaves Wonder $11.52 M away from reaching the $100 M domestic mark and already gives the film a current total gross to opening
weekend ratio of 3.21 to 1. |
Disney’s Thor: Ragnarok followed in fourth place with $754 K. Thor: Ragnarok was down 72.7 percent from Sunday and down a slim 13.6 percent from last Monday. The 32-day total for
Thor: Ragnarok stands at a mighty $292.387 M, which leaves the film just $7.61 M away from reaching the $300 M domestic milestone. |
Fox’s Murder on the Orient Express and Paramount’s Daddy’s Home 2 claimed fifth and sixth place with respective daily grosses of $582 K and $464 K. Total grosses for the two films remain
close, as respective 25-day totals stand at $85.421 M for Murder on the Orient Express and at $83.351 M for Daddy’s Home 2. |
On the platform front, A24’s The Disaster Artist took in $99,278 from 19 locations for a daily per-location average of $5,225, while Fox Searchlight’s The Shape of Water grossed $16,090 from
2 locations in New York for a per-location average of $8,045. Respective four-day totals stand at $1.311 M for The Disaster Artist and at $183 K for The Shape of Water. On Friday, The Disaster Artist is
scheduled to expand into semi-wide release, while The Shape of Water will be opening in select major cities. |
