Daily Box Office Report
Wednesday, October 25, 2017

By Daniel Garris

Lionsgate’s Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween grossed $850 K on Wednesday to stay just ahead of Warner’s Geostorm to remain in first place for the day. Boo 2! A Madea Halloween was down a very sharp 45.6 percent from Tuesday. Boo 2! A Madea Halloween has grossed $24.699 M in six days. That is in line with expectations and places the film 27.2 percent behind the $33.925 M six-day start of last year’s Boo! A Madea Halloween. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Boo 2! A Madea Halloween will take second place this weekend with $11.5 M.

Geostorm held steady in a very close second place with $844 K. Geostorm trailed Boo 2! A Madea Halloween by only $5,659 for the day. Like Boo 2! A Madea Halloween, Geostorm was also down very sharply on Wednesday as it fell 44.7 percent from Tuesday. Geostorm has grossed $17.131 M in six days. That is above the film’s modest expectations but also represents a soft domestic start with the film’s price tag in mind. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a second weekend gross of $7.2 M for Geostorm.

Fellow Warner Bros. release Blade Runner 2049 remained in third with $753 K. Blade Runner 2049 declined 26.5 percent from Tuesday and a solid 42.2 percent from last Wednesday. The film continues to perform significantly below its lofty expectations with a 20-day gross of $76.738 M. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a fourth weekend take of $4.1 M for Blade Runner 2049.

Universal’s Happy Death Day continued to claim fourth with $566 K. Happy Death Day was down 35.9 percent from Tuesday and down a respectable 46.6 percent from last Wednesday. Happy Death Day continues to exceed expectations and impress with its low-budget in mind with a thirteen-day haul of $42.766 M. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a third weekend gross of $5.3 M for Happy Death Day.

Sony’s Only the Brave and STXfilms’ The Foreigner claimed fifth and sixth place with respective daily grosses of $526 K and $524 K. Only the Brave declined 38.7 percent from Tuesday, while The Foreigner decreased a very similar 39.3 percent. Respective total grosses stand at a modest $7.987 M for Only the Brave in six days and at a more impressive $25.133 M in thirteen days for The Foreigner.
