After finishing in second place over the weekend, Warner’s Blade Runner 2049 returned to first place at the daily box office on Monday with $1.444 M. Blade Runner 2049 declined
67.6 percent from Sunday and a sharp 67.7 percent from last Monday’s inflated Columbus Day performance. Blade Runner 2049 continues to run significantly below expectations with an eleven-day take of $62.415 M. That
places the film 34.1 percent behind the $94.728 M eleven-day haul of 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. |
Universal’s Happy Death Day placed in a close second with $1.367 M. Happy Death Day was down one spot and 72.8 percent from Sunday’s first place performance, in part from the film being
more of a weekend film thanks to its PG-13 rating. In the bigger picture, Happy Death Day continues to exceed expectations with a strong four-day start of $27.406 M. Happy Death Day is running 1.4 percent
ahead of the $27.039 M four-day launch of 2015’s The Visit. |
STXfilms’ The Foreigner claimed third place with $1.064 M. That represented a 68.8 percent decline from Sunday. The Foreigner is running towards the higher end of expectations with a
solid four-day take of $14.177 M. The Foreigner is outpacing the $12.877 M four-day start of 2010’s The Spy Next Door (the last Jackie Chan vehicle to receive a wide release) by 10.1 percent. |
It was a very tight race for places fourth through seventh on Monday, with fourth and seventh place being separated by only $60,783 for the day. |
Universal’s American Made took fourth place with $517 K. American Made was down 65.4 percent from Sunday and down 61.0 percent from last Monday. The 18-day total for American Made
stands at $40.747 M. |
Fox’s The Mountain Between Us rounded out Monday’s top five with $488 K. The Mountain Between Us declined 68.3 percent from Sunday and 65.5 percent from last Monday.
The Mountain Between Us has grossed $21.092 M in eleven days. |
Warner’s IT followed in sixth with $472 K. IT decreased 67.7 percent from Sunday and 67.0 percent from last Monday. IT has grossed a massive $315.407 M in 39 days, which currently
ranks the film in 60th place on the all-time unadjusted domestic list. |
Fox’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle landed in seventh with $456 K. The film slowed 69.7 percent from Sunday and 68.4 percent from last Monday. Kingsman: The Golden Circle passed the
$90 M domestic mark yesterday and has grossed $90.172 M in 25 days. |
