| Warner’s IT took second place with $1.916 M. IT was down 73.6 percent from Sunday and down a sizable 54.5 percent from last Monday. IT has grossed a massive $268.012 M in 18 days,
as the film continues to venture into uncharted waters for an R-rated horror film. IT is running 144.4 percent ahead of the $109.674 M 18-day take of 2013’s The Conjuring and just 6.8 percent behind the
$287.585 M 18-day haul of last year’s Deadpool. |
| Fellow Warner Bros. release The LEGO Ninjago Movie placed in third with $758 K. The LEGO Ninjago Movie was down a very sharp 86.6 percent from Sunday, which is a sure sign of how heavily
the film is skewing towards family audiences. The LEGO Ninjago Movie has grossed a softer than expected $21.191 M in four days. That places the film a discouraging 4.7 percent below the $22.233 M four-day launch of
last year’s Storks. |
| Lionsgate and CBS Films’ American Assassin claimed fourth with $538 K. American Assassin decreased 67.8 percent from Sunday and 58.1 percent from last Monday. The eleven-day take for
American Assassin stands at $26.723 M, which is in line with expectations. |
| Paramount’s mother! and Open Road’s Home Again claimed fifth and sixth place with respective grosses of $324 K and $248 K. To date, mother! has grossed a softer than expected
$13.784 M in eleven days, while Home Again is running in line with expectations with $22.516 M in 18 days. |
| On the platform front, Fox Searchlight’s Battle of the Sexes grossed $38,021 from 21 locations, while Focus’ Victoria & Abdul took in $14,969 from 4 locations in New York and Los Angeles.
That gave Battle of the Sexes and Victoria & Abdul respective daily per-location averages of $1,811 and $3,742. Respective four-day platform starts stand at $553 K for Battle of the Sexes and
at $174 K for Victoria & Abdul. This coming weekend Battle of the Sexes will be playing in an estimated 1,200 locations, while Victoria & Abdul will expand into additional locations. |
