Daily Box Office Report
Wednesday, September 13, 2017

By Daniel Garris

Warner’s IT took in $7.908 M on Wednesday to dominate the daily box office for a sixth consecutive day. That represented a very respectable 30.8 percent decline from Tuesday’s performance. IT passed the $150 M domestic mark yesterday and has grossed a massive $151.508 M through six days of release. IT is running an astonishing 163.4 percent ahead of the $57.512 M six-day launch of 2013’s The Conjuring, as IT continues to journey into uncharted waters for an R-rated horror film. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that IT will easily remain in first place this weekend with $56.0 M.

Open Road’s Home Again held steady in second place with $752 K. Home Again decreased 34.9 percent from Tuesday. The six-day total for Home Again stands at $11.099 M, which is in line with the film’s modest expectations. Home Again is running 34.8 percent behind the $17.036 M six-day haul of Reese Witherspoon’s last vehicle, 2015’s Hot Pursuit. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a second weekend gross of $5.3 M for Home Again.

Lionsgate’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard remained in third with $483 K. The Hitman’s Bodyguard was down 26.8 percent from Tuesday and down only 23.9 percent from last Wednesday. The Hitman’s Bodyguard continues to exceed expectations with $66.386 M in 27 days. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that The Hitman’s Bodyguard will gross $3.0 M this weekend.

The Weinstein Company’s Wind River continued to claim fourth place with $414 K. Wind River declined 23.4 percent from Tuesday and a slim 16.6 percent from last Wednesday, as the film continues to display strong holding power. The 41-day total for Wind River stands at $26.201 M.

Warner’s Annabelle: Creation rounded out yesterday’s unchanged top five with $230 K. Annabelle: Creation fell 35.2 percent from Tuesday and a sizable 50.1 percent from last Wednesday. Annabelle: Creation has grossed $97.087 M in 34 days, which leaves the film just $2.913 M away from reaching the $100 M domestic milestone.
