Daily Box Office Report
Monday, September 11, 2017

By Daniel Garris

Warner’s IT continued to easily lead the daily box office on Monday with $8.761 M. IT was down 68.7 percent from Sunday’s performance. The four-day start for IT stands at a massive $132.165 M, as the film continues to journey into uncharted waters for an R-rated horror film. IT is running a jaw-dropping 178.9 percent ahead of the $47.392 M four-day launch of 2013’s The Conjuring and today is already set to surpass the $137.400 M final domestic gross of The Conjuring. Given its daily holds thus far, IT looks to be in great shape to zoom past the $200 M domestic mark before the end of this coming weekend.

Open Road’s Home Again placed in a distant second place with $625 K. That represented a 67.9 percent decline from Sunday. Home Again has grossed $9.193 M in four days, which is in line with the film’s modest expectations. Home Again is running 38.3 percent behind the $14.899 M four-day start of Reese Witherspoon’s last vehicle, 2015’s Hot Pursuit.

Lionsgate’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard claimed third with $394 K. The Hitman’s Bodyguard decreased 66.9 percent from Sunday and a very sharp 85.6 percent from last Monday’s inflated Labor Day performance. The 25-day total for The Hitman’s Bodyguard stands at a stronger than expected $65.243 M. That places the film nearly on par with the $65.413 M 25-day haul of 2014’s Let’s Be Cops.

The Weinstein Company’s Wind River took fourth place with $322 K. Wind River was down 58.8 percent from Sunday and down 80.0 percent from last Monday, which represented the day’s strongest percentage hold from last Monday. Wind River has grossed $25.246 M through 39 days of release.

Warner’s Annabelle: Creation rounded out Monday’s top five with $232 K. Annabelle: Creation declined 69.7 percent from Sunday and 86.2 percent from Labor Day. Annabelle: Creation has grossed a stronger than expected $96.502 M in 32 days. That leaves the film just $3.498 M away from reaching the $100 M domestic milestone.
