| Lionsgate’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard grossed $2.850 M on Tuesday to lead the daily box office for a fifth consecutive day. The Hitman’s Bodyguard was up a healthy 45.9 percent over Monday.
Yesterday’s daily percentage increases were especially strong in general and suggest that Monday’s grosses were deflated a bit as a result of the solar eclipse. The Hitman’s Bodyguard continues to exceed expectations
with a five-day start of $26.188 M. That is 44.7 percent stronger than the $18.102 M five-day launch of War Dogs at this time last August. |
| Warner’s Annabelle: Creation held steady in second place with $2.116 M. Annabelle: Creation increased 30.0 percent over Monday and decreased a sizable 53.2 percent from last Tuesday.
The twelve-day gross for Annabelle: Creation stands at a stronger than expected $67.901 M. That places Annabelle: Creation 5.4 percent ahead of the $64.394 M twelve-day take of 2014’s Annabelle. |
| Bleecker Street and Fingerprint Releasing’s Logan Lucky took in $1.053 M to remain in third. Logan Lucky was up a very strong 58.6 percent over Monday’s performance. However, in the
bigger picture Logan Lucky is still performing below expectations with a modest five-day launch of $9.317 M. Logan Lucky is running 14.9 percent behind the $10.943 M five-day start of 2013’s Side Effects. |
| Warner’s Dunkirk continued to claim fourth with $1.007 M. Dunkirk was up 53.6 percent over Monday and down a respectable 45.1 percent from last Tuesday. Dunkirk has grossed
$167.085 M in 33 days, which gives the film a current total gross to opening weekend ratio of 3.31 to 1. Dunkirk is running 4.5 percent ahead of the $159.921 M grossed by 2014’s Interstellar after 33 days of
wide release. |
| Open Road’s The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature rounded out the day’s unchanged top five with $948 K. The Nut Job 2 increased a hefty 81.0 percent over Monday and decreased a solid 39.4 percent
from last Tuesday. The Nut Job 2 has grossed a softer than expected $19.147 M in twelve days, which places the film a lackluster 53.9 percent behind the $41.576 M twelve-day take of 2014’s The Nut Job. |
