Daily Box Office Report
Wednesday, June 7, 2017

By Daniel Garris

Warner’s Wonder Woman took in $9.326 M on Wednesday to remain at the top of the daily box office for a sixth consecutive day. Wonder Woman declined a sizable 35.0 percent from Tuesday’s performance. It should be noted that the marketplace in general faced added competition yesterday from Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Wonder Woman has grossed a strong $138.677 M through six days. The film is running 9.4 percent ahead of the $126.759 M six-day take of 2004’s Guardians of the Galaxy and 14.3 percent behind the $161.780 M 2013’s Man of Steel had grossed through six days of release. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Wonder Woman will remain comfortably in first place this weekend with $51.0 M.

Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales held steady in second with $2.117 M. Dead Men Tell No Tales decreased 37.9 percent from Tuesday and a sharp 50.2 percent from last Wednesday (when the film was still playing on IMAX screens). Dead Men Tell No Tales has grossed $123.145 M in thirteen days. That paces the film a slim 1.1 percent behind the $124.498 M thirteen-day total of last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse and 27.3 percent behind the $169.490 M thirteen-day haul of 2011’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. BoxOfficeReport is a predicting a third weekend gross of $11.2 M for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Fox and DreamWorks Animation’s Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie remained in third place with $1.831 M. Captain Underpants was down 32.2 percent from Tuesday and passed the $30 M mark yesterday. The six-day total for Captain Underpants stands at a very solid $30.388 M. Captain Underpants is running 3.1 percent ahead of the $29.466 M six-day gross of last year’s Ice Age: Collision Course and 23.3 percent behind the $39.603 M six-day launch of 2014’s Mr. Peabody & Sherman. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a second weekend take of $13.0 M for Captain Underpants.

Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was up one spot from Tuesday to move into fourth on Wednesday with $998 K. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 declined 30.5 percent from Tuesday and a solid 38.1 percent from last Wednesday. The 34-day total for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stands at a massive $359.114 M. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will gross $6.3 M this weekend.

Paramount’s Baywatch was down one spot from Tuesday to round out Wednesday’s top five with $946 K. Baywatch fell a sharp 37.5 percent from Tuesday, but was down a respectable 42.6 percent from last Wednesday. The two-week total for Baywatch stands at a softer than expected $45.552 M. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a third weekend take of $5.0 M for Baywatch.
