| Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales took in $6.846 M on Tuesday to lead the daily box office for a fifth consecutive day. Dead Men Tell No Tales was down 55.8 percent
from Monday’s inflated Memorial Day performance. The film continues to run in line with scaled back expectations with a five-day start of $85.323 M. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is running 18.2 percent
behind the $104.348 M five-day take of 2011’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and a slim 1.2 percent behind the $86.324 M five-day haul of last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse. |
| Paramount’s Baywatch was up one spot from Monday to place in second with $2.534 M. Baywatch declined 44.9 percent from Monday, which represented Tuesday’s strongest daily percentage hold
among wide releases. Baywatch passed the $30 M mark yesterday and has grossed a softer than expected $30.248 M in six days of release. That places Baywatch a disappointing 54.4 percent behind the $66.264 M
six-day start of 2013’s The Hangover Part III and 8.7 percent ahead of the $27.839 M six-day take of last year’s Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. |
| Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 fell one spot from Monday to land in third with $2.218 M. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 decreased a sharp 64.7 percent from Monday, but was down a
very solid 34.6 percent from last Tuesday. The 26-day total for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stands at an impressive $342.723 M. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is running 34.3 percent ahead of the
$255.228 M 26-day gross of 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and 8.4 percent behind the $374.336 M 26-day take of 2013’s Iron Man 3. |
| Fox’s Alien: Covenant held steady in fourth place with $1.324 M. Alien: Covenant was down 52.2 percent from Monday and down a very sharp 60.9 percent from last Tuesday, as the film
remains very front-loaded. Alien: Covenant has grossed $61.530 M in twelve days, which is below expectations and an underwhelming 34.8 percent softer than the $94.430 M twelve-day haul of 2012’s Prometheus. |
| Warner’s Everything, Everything and Fox’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul claimed fifth and sixth place with respective daily grosses of $826 K and $536 K. Everything, Everything was
down 50.0 percent from Monday and down just 27.7 percent from last Tuesday, while Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul decreased 67.5 percent from Monday and a very slim 4.4 percent from last Tuesday. Respective
twelve-day grosses stand at a solid $23.848 M for Everything, Everything and at a lackluster $15.839 M for Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul. |
