| It was an extremely close race for first place on Tuesday, with Disney's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 maintaining a very slim lead over Fox’s Alien: Covenant. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
grossed $3.389 M on Tuesday, as it outpaced Alien: Covenant by just $4,418 for the day. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was down 5.8 percent from Monday’s inflated Victoria Day performance and down 43.0 percent
from last Tuesday. The 19-day total for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stands at a strong $308.377 M. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is running 34.6 percent ahead of the $229.058 M 19-day gross of 2014’s
Guardians of the Galaxy and 10.3 percent behind the $343.620 M 19-day gross of 2013’s Iron Man 3. |
| Fox’s Alien: Covenant placed in a very close second with $3.385 M. Alien: Covenant increased 1.8 percent from Monday’s performance. The film passed the $40 M mark yesterday and has
grossed $42.868 M in five days, which is on the low end of expectations. Alien: Covenant is running an underwhelming 30.0 percent behind the $61.257 M five-day start of 2012’s Prometheus and 14.0 percent behind
the $49.867 M five-day take of last year’s Independence Day: Resurgence. |
| Warner’s Everything, Everything was up one spot and a healthy 30.2 percent from Monday to move into third on Tuesday with $1.141 M. Everything, Everything has grossed $13.745 M in five
days, which is on the high end of expectations and represents a healthy start given the film’s modest $10 M production budget. Everything, Everything is running 25.6 percent behind the $18.484 M five-day start of
2014’s If I Stay. |
| Fox’s Snatched was up one spot and 25.8 percent from Monday to claim fourth place on Tuesday with $1.091 M. Snatched was down 43.9 percent from last Tuesday and has grossed a solid
$34.974 M in twelve days of release. The film is running 42.6 percent ahead of the $24.529 M twelve-day gross of 2015’s Hot Pursuit. |
| Warner’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword fell two spots from Monday to land in fifth on Tuesday with $1.002 M. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword increased 8 percent over Monday and
decreased 42.0 percent from last Tuesday. The twelve-day take for the pricey King Arthur: Legend of the Sword stands at a very disappointing $29.434 M. |
| Fox’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul held steady in sixth place with $561 K. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul was up 4.3 percent over Monday. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul
has grossed a lackluster $8.224 M in five days and is running 56.5 percent behind the $18.892 M five-day start of 2012’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days. |
