Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 took in $4.702 M on Monday to lead the daily box office for an eleventh consecutive day. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was down 77.5 percent from
Sunday’s Mother’s Day performance and down 52.3 percent from last Monday. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 passed the $250 M domestic mark yesterday and has grossed a strong $253.122 M in eleven days of release. The
film is running 39.2 percent ahead of the $181.860 M eleven-day take of 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and 12.6 percent behind the $289.562 M eleven-day gross of 2013’s Iron Man 3. |
Fox’s Snatched placed in second with $1.411 M. Snatched was down a sharp, but understandable 82.5 percent from its inflated Mother’s Day performance on Sunday. Snatched passed the
$20 M mark yesterday and is running towards the higher end of expectations with a four-day start of $20.954 M. Snatched is performing 40.6 percent stronger than the $14.899 M four-day take of 2015’s Hot Pursuit and 37.7 percent
softer than the $33.634 M four-day haul of 2015’s Trainwreck. |
Warner’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword claimed third place with $1.256 M. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword declined 72.7 percent from Sunday, which represented one of the day’s
stronger daily percentage holds among wide releases. In the bigger picture, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is off to a disappointing four-day start of just $16.627 M. That places the film 12.1 percent ahead of the
$14.832 M four-day take of 2015’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and 57.7 percent behind the $39.321 M four-day haul of 2010’s Robin Hood. |
Universal’s The Fate of the Furious took fourth with $385 K. The Fate of the Furious was down 77.0 percent from Sunday and down a solid 35.9 percent from last Monday. The Fate of the Furious
has grossed $215.520 M in 32 days, which places the film 6.0 percent behind the $229.186 M 32-day take of 2013’s Fast & Furious 6. |
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast rounded out Monday’s top five with $301 K. Beauty and the Beast decreased 83.8 percent from Mother’s Day and a slim 10.6 percent from last Monday. Beauty and the Beast
has grossed a massive $494.441 M in sixty days and is now just $5.559 M away from reaching the $500 M domestic milestone. |
