2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy increased 1.6 percent on its first Tuesday to gross $11.908 M, while 2013’s Iron Man 3 was up a slim 0.2 percent to gross $11.287 M. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has grossed
$168.470 M in five days, which is in line with the film’s lofty expectations. The film is running an impressive 42.8 percent ahead of the $117.951 M five-day take of Guardians of the Galaxy and 14.4 percent behind the
$196.699 M five-day start of Iron Man 3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is already the sixth highest grossing release of 2017 so far domestically and is set to move into fourth place for the year today. |
| Universal’s The Fate of the Furious held steady in second place with $852 K. That represented a 41.7 percent increase over Monday and a sizable 54.4 percent decrease from last Tuesday. The Fate of the Furious
has grossed $208.639 M in 26 days, which currently ranks as the third highest total domestic gross among 2017 releases (behind only Beauty and the Beast and Logan). The Fate of the Furious is running 6.0 percent
behind the $221.951 M 26-day take of 2013’s Fast & Furious 6. |
| Lionsgate and Pantelion’s How to Be a Latin Lover grossed $579 K to remain in third. How to Be a Latin Lover was up 47.6 percent over Monday and down 47.4 percent from last Tuesday.

| Disney’s Beauty and the Beast was down one spot to round out Tuesday’s top five with $499 K. Beauty and the Beast was up 48.2 percent over Monday and down just 28.8 percent from last Tuesday. The
54-day total for Beauty and the Beast stands at $488.574 M. That leaves the film just $11.426 M away from reaching the $500 M domestic milestone. |
