comparison, 2015’s Furious 7 fell 10.4 percent on its first Thursday to gross $8.229 M, while 2013’s Fast & Furious 6 slowed 13.6 percent to gross $4.993 M. The Fate of the Furious grossed $124.896 M during its
first week of release. The film is currently running 34.9 percent behind the $191.930 M seven-day start of Furious 7 and 8.1 percent behind the $135.840 M seven-day gross of Fast & Furious 6. |
| Fox and DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby held steady in second place with $1.346 M. The Boss Baby was down 2.4 percent from Wednesday and down 56.2 percent from last Thursday’s Holy Week
inflated performance. The Boss Baby claimed second place for the week with $23.461 M. The film was down 37.8 percent from the previous week and continues to exceed expectations with a 21-day gross of $124.242 M. |
| Disney’s Beauty and the Beast grossed $1.291 M to remain in third. Beauty and the Beast decreased 0.7 percent from Wednesday and 52.4 percent from last Thursday. With a 35-day gross of $461.124 M,
yesterday saw Beauty and the Beast surpass the $460.998 M lifetime gross of 1977’s Star Wars to move into tenth place on the all-time unadjusted domestic chart. For the week, Beauty and the Beast was down 40.4
percent with a third place take of $20.109 M. |
| Warner’s Going in Style claimed fourth on Thursday with $760 K, while Sony’s Smurfs: The Lost Village followed in fifth with $658 K. For the week, Smurfs: The Lost Village had the edge for
fourth with a weekly gross of $10.307 M. Going in Style placed in fifth for the week with $9.730 M. Respective 14-day totals stand at a softer than expected $28.538 M for Smurfs: The Lost Village and at a respectable
$26.761 M for Going in Style. |
| Fox Searchlight’s Gifted remained in sixth place with $404 K. Gifted was up 2.5 percent from Wednesday and up a very impressive 1.0 percent over last Thursday. The film placed in sixth for the
week with $4.845 M and has grossed $6.215 M in two weeks. Gifted is playing in 1,986 locations this weekend after receiving another major expansion today. |
