| Paramount’s Terminator: Dark Fate grossed $2.063 million on Monday to lead the daily box office for a fourth consecutive day. The expensive sequel was down 72.5 percent from Sunday’s performance.
Terminator: Dark Fate passed the $30 million mark yesterday and has grossed $31.097 million in four days, which is especially disappointing with the film’s large price-tag in mind. The four-day start for
Terminator: Dark Fate is 8.6 percent behind the $34.029 million four-day start of 2015’s Terminator Genisys (which opened on a Wednesday). |
| Yesterday saw Warner’s Joker pass the $300 million domestic mark after placing in second for the day with $1.160 million. Joker declined 68.8 percent from Sunday and a very solid 34.4 percent
from last Monday, as the film continues to display strong holding power (especially for a high-profile comic book adaptation). With a terrific 32-day take of $300.347 million, Joker is the seventh highest grossing release of
2019 thus far domestically and has an impressive current total gross to opening weekend ratio of 3.12 to 1. |
| Focus’ Harriet took third place with $962,590. Harriet was down 69.3 percent from Sunday’s take. The four-day start for Harriet stands at $12.639 million, which is ahead of expectations
and is very solid with the film’s modest production cost in mind. Harriet continues to perform similarly to last year’s Widows, which grossed $13.470 million through its first four days last November. Harriet
will look to hold up well going forward with the aid of strong word of mouth. |
| Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil followed in fourth with $843,720. That was down 79.5 percent from Sunday and down just 32.5 percent from last Monday, as the film continues to show recent signs of
stabilizing. The 18-day total for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil stands at $86.084 million, which is a bit below expectations and places the film just 5.5 percent behind the $91.070 million 18-day gross of fellow Disney
release Dumbo earlier this year. |
| Sony’s Zombieland: Double Tap rounded out Monday’s top five with $670,480. Zombieland: Double Tap declined 68.5 percent from Sunday and a very solid 35.6 percent from last Monday. After
experiencing a sharp decline in its second week, Zombieland: Double Tap has stabilized nicely during its third week. Zombieland: Double Tap has grossed $60.052 million in 18 days, which is in line with expectations. |
