| STXfilms’ Hustlers took in $2.635 million on Wednesday to lead the daily box office for the fourth time in the past six days. Hustlers was down a sharp, but understandable 43.1 percent from
Tuesday’s strong daily performance. In the bigger picture, the modestly budgeted Hustlers continues outpace expectations with a strong six-day start of $43.199 million. That places the film 27.7 percent ahead of the
$33.828 million six-day haul of 2016’s Bad Moms. With the aid of good word of mouth and expanding into an additional 275 locations this weekend, BoxOfficeReport is expecting a strong second weekend hold for Hustlers with
a predicted $21.3 million. |
| Warner and New Line’s IT Chapter Two held steady in second place with $1.973 million. That was down 40.1 percent from Tuesday and down a sharp 56.4 percent from last Wednesday. IT Chapter Two has
grossed a very healthy $160.184 million through thirteen days, which is towards the lower end of expectations and places the film a significant, but understandable 31.1 percent behind the $232.407 million thirteen-day total of 2017’s
IT. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a third weekend take of $17.3 million for IT Chapter Two, due in part to the film losing IMAX screens to Ad Astra this weekend. |
| Lionsgate’s Angel Has Fallen and Universal’s Good Boys continued to claim third and fourth place with respective daily grosses of $422,307 and $346,340. Both films held up very well in comparison
to last Wednesday, as Angel Has Fallen was down only 24.8 percent, while Good Boys declined by 28.2 percent. Respective total grosses stand at $74.512 million for Good Boys in 34 days and at $61.963 million for
Angel Has Fallen through 27 days. For the weekend, BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Angel Has Fallen will gross $2.8 million and that Good Boys will take in $2.7 million. |
| Sony’s Overcomer was up one spot from Tuesday to move into fifth place on Wednesday with $252,387. That represented a 37.0 percent decrease from Tuesday and a decline on just 28.2 percent from last
Wednesday. With a 27-day gross of $29.853 million Overcomer is on the verge of reaching the $30 million domestic mark. |
