Disney’s The Lion King was up one spot from Tuesday to move back into first place on Wednesday with $4.910 million. The Lion King was down 36.7 percent from Tuesday and down a respectable
44.3 percent from last Monday. Yesterday The Lion King passed the $448.139 million lifetime domestic gross of 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises to move into 18th place on the all-time unadjusted domestic list.
The Lion King has grossed a massive $448.918 million in 20 days, which places the film 11.1 percent ahead of the $404.128 million 20-day take of 2017’s Beauty and the Beast. With The Lion King losing
582 theatres this weekend, BoxOfficeReport is predicting that the film will gross $21.0 million in its fourth frame. |
Universal’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw was down one spot and a very sharp 45.3 percent from Tuesday to land in second place on Wednesday with $4.658 million. On the heels of a healthy daily
hold on Tuesday, Wednesday’s daily hold is a bit concerning going forward. Hobbs & Shaw has grossed $79.083 million in six days, which is towards the lower end of scaled back expectations for a film in the Fast & Furious
universe. Hobbs & Shaw is running 14.4 percent ahead of the $69.101 million six-day launch of 2015’s San Andreas. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw will move back into
first place this weekend with $26.5 million. |
Sony’s Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood held steady in third place with an estimated $2.326 million. That was down 25.5 percent from Tuesday and down a solid 41.1 percent from last Wednesday. The
thirteen-day total for Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood stands at a healthy $86.757 million. That is 10.3 percent ahead of the $78.648 million thirteen-day haul of 2009’s Inglourious Basterds. BoxOfficeReport is
predicting a third weekend take of $11.8 million for Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood. |
Fellow Sony release Spider-Man: Far From Home took in $1.205 million to continue to claim fourth place. Spider-Man: Far From Home declined 30.7 percent from Tuesday and just 33.5 percent from
last Wednesday. Spider-Man: Far From Home has grossed a spectacular $364.647 million in 37 days, which leaves the film $8.939 million away from the $373.586 million unadjusted total gross of 2004’s Spider-Man 2. BoxOfficeReport
is predicting that Spider-Man: Far From Home will gross $5.2 million in its sixth weekend. |
Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 followed very closely behind in fifth place with $1.181 million. That was down 28.5 percent from Tuesday and down only 22.8 percent from last Wednesday. With a terrific
48-day take of $414.155 million, today Toy Story 4 is set to surpass the $415.005 million unadjusted total gross of 2010’s Toy Story 3. BoxOfficeReport is predicting an eighth weekend gross of $5.0 million for
Toy Story 4. |
