| Universal’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw grossed $5.872 million on Monday to lead the daily box office for a fourth consecutive day. That was down 63.0 percent from Sunday’s performance.
Hobbs & Shaw has grossed $65.911 million in four days, which is towards the lower end of scaled back expectations for a film in the Fast & Furious universe. Hobbs & Shaw is running 11.0 percent ahead of the
$59.405 million four-day haul of 2015’s San Andreas and 38.6 percent behind the $107.311 million four-day launch of 2017’s The Fate of The Furious, as Hobbs & Shaw continues to perform in-between a
Fast & Furious film and a high-profile Dwayne Johnson vehicle. |
| Disney’s The Lion King placed in a close second for the day with $5.095 million. The Lion King showed signs of stabilizing yesterday, as the film declined 57.3 percent from Sunday and a
respectable 44.5 percent from last Monday. Yesterday saw The Lion King move past the $435.111 million lifetime domestic gross of 1982’s E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial to move into 20th place on the all-time unadjusted
domestic list. The Lion King has grossed an impressive $436.258 million in 18 days, which places the film 10.0 percent ahead of the $396.505 million 18-day take of 2017’s Beauty and the Beast. |
| Sony’s Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood took third place with $2.481 million. Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood was down 60.3 percent from Sunday and down a respectable 46.5 percent from last Monday.
The eleven-day total for Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood stands at a healthy $81.309 million. That is 8.4 percent ahead of the $74.987 million eleven-day gross of 2009’s Inglourious Basterds. |
| Fellow Sony release Spider-Man: Far From Home followed in fourth with $1.225 million. That was down 50.7 percent from Sunday and down just 31.7 percent from last Monday. Spider-Man: Far From Home
has grossed a spectacular $361.703 million in 35 days, which leaves the film $11.883 million away from the $373.586 million unadjusted total gross of 2004’s Spider-Man 2. |
| Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 rounded out Monday’s top five with $1.073 million. Toy Story 4 declined 49.5 percent from Sunday and only 25.0 percent from last Monday. With a terrific 46-day
take of $411.323 million, Toy Story 4 is now just $3.682 million away from the $415.005 million unadjusted total gross of 2010’s Toy Story 3. |
