Daily Box Office Report
Wednesday, July 17, 2019

By Daniel Garris

Sony’s Spider-Man: Far From Home took in $5.409 million on Wednesday to top the daily box office for a 16th consecutive day. Spider-Man: Far From Home was down 38.7 percent from Tuesday and down a solid 41.4 percent from last Wednesday. With a spectacular 16-day haul of $294.341 million, Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to surpass the $300 million domestic mark on Friday. Spider-Man: Far From Home is running an impressive 20.1 percent ahead of the $245.001 million 16-day take of 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. With Spider-Man: Far From Home losing IMAX and other PLF shows to Disney’s The Lion King this weekend, BoxOfficeReport is predicting a third weekend take of $20.5 million for Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 held steady in second place with $3.444 million. That represented a 30.5 percent decline from Tuesday and a decrease of just 20.0 percent from last Wednesday. Thanks in part to strong holding power, the 27-day total for Toy Story 4 stands at a healthy $357.862 million. Toy Story 4 is running a slim 2.7 percent ahead of the $348.453 million 27-day gross of 2010’s Toy Story 3. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Toy Story 4 will gross $13.3 million in its fifth weekend.

Paramount’s Crawl grossed $1.237 million to remain in third. Crawl was down a sharp 42.1 percent from Tuesday’s performance. With a solid six-day start of $16.734 million, Crawl is running in line with expectations and 7.3 percent ahead of the $15.589 million six-day launch of 2017’s 47 Meters Down. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a second weekend haul of $5.7 million for Crawl.

Disney’s Aladdin registered $1.112 million to continue to claim fourth place. Aladdin continues to display exceptional holding power, as the film was down 28.6 percent from Tuesday and up 0.8 percent from last Wednesday. Aladdin has grossed a significantly stronger than expected $335.346 million in 55 days. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Aladdin will gross $4.7 million in its ninth weekend.

Universal’s Yesterday was up one spot from Tuesday to round out Wednesday’s top five with $1.089 million. Yesterday held up very nicely for the day, as the film was down 22.8 percent from Tuesday and down only 13.6 percent from last Wednesday. The 20-day take for Yesterday stands at a stronger than expected $51.638 million. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a fourth weekend gross of $4.4 million for Yesterday.

Disney and Fox’s Stuber was down one spot and a sharp 41.4 percent from Tuesday to land in sixth on Wednesday with $844,882. Stuber has grossed a lackluster $11.359 million in six days, which is towards the lower end of the film’s modest expectations. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Stuber will gross $3.8 million in its second weekend.
