Daily Box Office Report
Monday, July 15, 2019

By Daniel Garris

Sony’s Spider-Man: Far From Home grossed $5.527 million on Monday to lead the daily box office for a 14th consecutive day. The film was down 60.2 percent from Sunday and down a sizable 49.2 percent from last Monday. Spider-Man: Far From Home has grossed a spectacular $280.110 million in 14 days, which leaves the film $19.89 million away from the $300 million domestic mark. Spider-Man: Far From Home is running 36.7 percent ahead of the $204.854 million 14-day take of 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man and 21.9 percent ahead of the $229.702 million 14-day haul of 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 claimed second place with $2.810 million. That represented a 56.7 percent decline from Sunday and a decrease of just 32.7 percent from last Monday. Toy Story 4 has grossed a healthy $349.460 million in 25 days and is obviously set to surpass the $350 million domestic mark today. Toy Story 4 is running a slim 2.2 percent ahead of the $342.041 million 25-day take of 2010’s Toy Story 3.

Paramount’s Crawl followed in third with $1.355 million. Crawl was down 59.9 percent from Sunday’s performance. The four-day start for Crawl stands at $13.361 million, which is in line with expectations. Crawl is running 5.0 percent ahead of the $12.724 million four-day launch of 2017’s 47 Meters Down, but whether or not Crawl can match the holding power of 47 Meters Down remains to be seen.

Disney’s Aladdin placed in fourth for the day with $887,127. Yesterday marked the first day that Aladdin didn’t reach the $1 million daily mark. With that said, Aladdin continued to hold up very well yesterday, as the film was down 50.9 percent from Sunday and down a very slim 12.1 percent from Sunday. With a stronger than expected 53-day take of $332.677 million, Aladdin is on the verge of passing the $334.191 million final domestic gross of 2010’s Alice in Wonderland.

Universal’s Yesterday rounded out the day’s top five with $864,545. Yesterday continued to hold up nicely on Monday, as the film decreased 56.6 percent from Sunday and only 23.4 percent from last Monday. Yesterday trailed Aladdin by just $22,582 for the day. With a stronger than expected 18-day take of $49.139 million, Yesterday is set to surpass the $50 million domestic mark today.

Disney and Fox’s Stuber took sixth place with $847,850. Stuber was down 61.6 percent from Sunday’s take and trailed Yesterday by a slim $16,695 for the day. Stuber has grossed a lackluster $9.073 million in four days, which is towards the lower end of the film’s modest expectations.
