| Universal’s Halloween took in $3.679 million on Wednesday to lead the daily box office for a sixth consecutive day. That represented a 42.0 percent decline from Tuesday’s performance. Halloween
passed the $90 million domestic mark yesterday and has grossed $90.892 million in six days. That places the film an impressive 40.5 percent ahead of the recent $64.669 million six-day start of The Nun
(which declined 47.7 percent on its first Wednesday to gross $2.518 million). With the aid of good word of mouth, Halloween weekend and the addition of IMAX screens, BoxOfficeReport is predicting a second weekend take of
$36.5 million for Halloween. |
| Warner’s A Star is Born held steady in second place with $1.968 million. A Star is Born continued to hold up well on Wednesday, as the film was down 25.2 percent from Tuesday and down just
32.8 percent from last Wednesday. A Star is Born has grossed a very strong $132.571 million after 20 days of wide release. That already gives the film a current total gross to opening weekend ratio of 3.09 to 1.
BoxOfficeReport is predicting that A Star is Born will gross $14.0 million in its fourth weekend. |
| Sony’s Venom grossed $1.124 million to continue to claim third. Venom declined 38.8 percent from Tuesday and a sizable 49.8 percent from last Wednesday. The 19-day total for Venom stands
at a stronger than expected $175.315 million. That places the film a slim 1.4 percent ahead of the $172.865 million 20-day haul of Ant-Man and the Wasp earlier this year. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a fourth weekend gross
of $10.8 million for Venom. |
| Universal and DreamWorks’ First Man remained in fourth with $720,890 for the day. First Man was down 31.9 percent from Tuesday and down a respectable 42.7 percent from last Wednesday
(when the film received an added boost from being a daily MoviePass option). Due in part to poorer than expected holding power, the thirteen-day total for First Man stands at an underwhelming $32.21 million. BoxOfficeReport
is predicting that First Man will gross $4.7 million in its third weekend. |
| Fox’s The Hate U Give rounded out the day’s unchanged top five with $560,223. That represented a 36.4 percent decline from Tuesday. After six days of wide release
(and an additional two weeks of platform release) The Hate U Give has grossed a promising $12.693 million. Thanks in part to strong critical reviews and strong word of mouth; BoxOfficeReport is expecting
The Hate U Give to hold up well this weekend with a predicted take of $5.1 million. |
