Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout led the daily box office for a thirteenth consecutive day on Wednesday after taking in $3.682 million for the day. That represented a 35.0 percent decline from
Tuesday and a solid 41.8 percent decrease from last Wednesday. Thanks in part to impressive holding power for a high-profile sequel, Mission: Impossible – Fallout has grossed a stronger than expected $138.619 million in
thirteen days. The film is running 16.9 percent ahead of the $118.566 million thirteen-day take of 2015’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a third weekend take of $22.0 million for
Mission: Impossible – Fallout. |
Disney’s Christopher Robin held steady in second with $2.828 million. After strong daily percentage holds on Monday and Tuesday, Christopher Robin declined a sizable 36.9 percent from Tuesday on
Wednesday. The six-day start for Christopher Robin stands at $34.994 million, which is a bit under expectations, but also places the film 17.8 percent ahead of the $29.711 million six-day start of 2016’s Pete’s Dragon
(which fell 40.3 percent on its first Wednesday to gross $2.135 million). BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Disney’s Christopher Robin will gross $13.7 million in its second weekend. |
Universal’s Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again grossed $1.624 million to remain in third place. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again was down only 24.8 percent from Tuesday and down a respectable 43.3 percent from
last Wednesday. With a healthy 20-day gross of $96.600 million, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is only $3.400 million away from reaching the $100 million domestic milestone. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a fourth weekend gross of
$5.4 million for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. |
Lionsgate’s The Spy Who Dumped Me continued to claim fourth place with $1.329 million. That represented a solid 31.4 percent decline from Tuesday. The Spy Who Dumped Me continues to run in line
with expectations with a six-day haul of $16.805 million. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a second weekend take of $6.5 million for The Spy Who Dumped Me. |
Sony releases Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and The Equalizer 2 claimed fifth and sixth place with respective daily grosses of $1.288 million and $1.008 million. Respective total grosses
stand at $140.691 million for Hotel Transylvania 3 in 27 days and at $83.343 million for The Equalizer 2 in 20 days. BoxOfficeReport is predicting weekend takes of $5.3 million for The Equalizer 2 and $5.2 million
for Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. |
In other box office news, LD Entertainment’s Dog Days was off to a modest start on Wednesday with an eleventh place take of $635,164. At this rate, it appears highly likely that Dog Days will start
out below BoxOfficeReport’s five-day prediction of $7.8 million, though it is still possible the film could be especially back-loaded towards the weekend, especially given that the film’s move to Wednesday was fairly last-minute. |
