| Universal’s Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again took in $6.742 million on Tuesday to lead the daily box office for a second consecutive day. On the heels of Monday’s strong daily hold,
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again was up a healthy 37.4 percent on Tuesday. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again has grossed $46.601 million in five days and is set to surpass the $50 million domestic mark today.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is running in line with expectations and 28.5 percent ahead of the $36.278 million five-day start of 2008’s Mamma Mia! (which increased 8.3 percent on its first Tuesday to gross $4.433 million). |
| Sony’s Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation was up one spot from Monday to move into second place on Tuesday with $5.361 million. That represented a very strong 61.9 percent increase over Monday and a
solid 37.0 percent decrease from last Tuesday. Yesterday saw Hotel Transylvania 3 surpass the $100 million domestic mark. With a twelve-day take of $100.376 million, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation is running
6.8 percent ahead of the $93.980 million twelve-day haul of 2015’s Hotel Transylvania 2. |
| Fellow Sony release The Equalizer 2 was down one spot from Monday to land in third place with $5.003 million. The Equalizer 2 was up 35.6 percent over Monday’s performance. The five-day start for
The Equalizer 2 stands at a stronger than expected $44.703 million. That places the film 9.7 percent ahead of the $40.740 million five-day launch of 2014’s The Equalizer (which increased 22.3 percent on its first Tuesday to gross $3.632 million). |
| Disney’s Ant-Man and The Wasp continued to claim fourth place with $3.316 million. Ant-Man and The Wasp was up a strong 45.9 percent over Monday and down a solid 39.8 percent from last Tuesday
(when the film was still playing on IMAX screens). With a 19-day gross of $170.694 million, Ant-Man and The Wasp is running a healthy 25.1 percent ahead of the $136.456 million 19-day take of 2015’s Ant-Man. |
| Fellow Disney release Incredibles 2 rounded out Tuesday’s top five with $2.507 million. Incredibles 2 continues to hold up nicely, as the film increased 37.8 percent over Monday and decreased just
26.5 percent from last Tuesday. Incredibles 2 stands in ninth place on the all-time unadjusted domestic list with an incredible 40-day gross of $562.037 million. |
| Universal releases Skyscraper and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom claimed sixth and seventh place with respective daily grosses of $2.355 million and $2.104 million. Skyscraper passed the
$50 million domestic mark yesterday and has grossed a softer than expected $51.024 million in twelve days. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has grossed a mighty $387.827 million in 33 days, which leaves the film just
$12.173 million away from reaching the $400 million domestic milestone. |
