Sony’s Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation took in $5.021 million on Monday to lead the daily box office for a fourth straight day. That represented a 57.9 percent decline from Sunday’s performance.
Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation passed the $50 million domestic mark yesterday and has grossed $50.374 million after four days of release. The film is running 13.7 percent ahead of the $44.321 million four-day launch of
2012’s Hotel Transylvania and a very slim 0.8 percent behind the $50.803 million four-day start of 2015’s Hotel Transylvania 2. |
Disney’s Ant-Man and The Wasp placed in second with $3.567 million. Ant-Man and The Wasp declined 60.0 percent from Sunday and a sizable 48.9 percent from last Monday. The eleven-day total for
Ant-Man and The Wasp stands at $136.650 million. Ant-Man and The Wasp is running 24.7 percent ahead of the $109.543 million eleven-day take of 2015’s Ant-Man. After displaying significant initial front-loading
thus far, Ant-Man and The Wasp will look to stabilize in the near future. |
Universal and Legendary’s Skyscraper claimed third place with $2.566 million. Skyscraper was down 61.3 percent from Sunday, which represented one of the day’s larger daily percentage declines among
wide releases. Skyscraper continues to perform below expectations with a four-day launch of $27.471 million. That places the film an underwhelming 28.2 percent behind the recent $38.267 million four-day start of fellow
Dwayne Johnson vehicle Rampage. |
Disney’s Incredibles 2 finished in fourth place with $2.246 million. Incredibles 2 was down just 54.9 percent from Sunday and down a very solid 36.6 percent from last Monday, which is especially
impressive given the new competition from Hotel Transylvania 3 this week. Incredibles 2 stands in ninth place on the all-time unadjusted domestic list with an incredible 32-day gross of $538.108 million. |
Universal’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom rounded out Monday’s top five with $2.062 million. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom decreased 58.0 percent from Sunday and a solid 38.6 percent from last
Monday. With a mighty 25-day gross of $366.044 million, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is running 7.5 percent ahead of the $340.505 million 25-day take of last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. |
Fellow Universal release The First Purge followed in sixth with $1.405 million. The First Purge was down 49.4 percent from Sunday and down a solid 41.2 percent from last Monday. Yesterday saw
The First Purge pass the $50 million domestic mark. The film has grossed $51.095 million in thirteen days, which is 19.7 percent behind the $63.663 million thirteen-day take of 2016’s The Purge: Election Year. |
