| Disney’s Incredibles 2 continued its incredible early run on Monday with $23.628 million for the day. That represented the twelfth largest Monday gross of all-time, the ninth largest first-Monday gross
of all-time and the fifth largest non-holiday first-Monday gross of all-time. Incredibles 2 registered the largest Monday gross ever for an animated film, as it just outpaced the $23.408 million second-Monday Memorial Day gross of
2004’s Shrek 2. Incredibles 2 was down 55.0 percent from Sunday’s Father’s Day performance. |
| Incredibles 2 passed the $200 million domestic mark yesterday on the film’s fourth day of release, which ties Incredibles 2 with 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron as the seventh fastest film
ever to reach the $200 million domestic milestone (six different films have reached the $200 million domestic milestone in three days). Incredibles 2 has grossed $206.316 million in four days, which represents the seventh
largest four-day start of all-time among all films. Incredibles 2 easily registered the largest four-day start of all-time for an animated film, as the film is running a very impressive 33.4 percent ahead of the
$154.632 million four-day start of previous record-holder 2016’s Finding Dory (which declined 43.5 percent on its first Monday to take in $19.571 million). |
| Warner’s Ocean’s 8 claimed second place with $2.421 million. Ocean’s 8 was down 57.5 percent from Sunday and down a respectable 44.7 percent from last Monday. Ocean’s 8 passed the
$80 million domestic mark yesterday and has grossed a healthy $81.009 million in eleven days. That places Ocean’s 8 11.2 percent ahead of the $72.841 million eleven-day haul of 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen. |
| Fellow Warner Bros. release Tag followed in third with $1.820 million. That represented a 60.2 percent decline from the film’s performance on Father’s Day. Tag has grossed $16.767 million in four
days, which is in line with the film’s expectations. Tag is running just 8.4 percent behind the $18.308 million four-day launch of Game Night earlier this year. |
| It was essentially a three-way tie for places fourth, fifth and sixth on Monday between Fox’s Deadpool 2, Disney’s Solo: A Star Wars Story and A24’s Hereditary, as only $10,881 separated
fourth place from sixth place for the day. Deadpool 2 took fourth with $1.101 million, Solo: A Star Wars Story claimed fifth with $1.100 million and Hereditary placed in sixth with $1.090 million. Respective
total grosses stand at a strong $295.663 million for Deadpool 2 in 32 days, at a disappointing $194.865 million for Solo: A Star Wars Story in 25 days and at a stronger than expected $28.106 million for
Hereditary in eleven days. |
