| Warner’s Ocean’s 8 grossed $4.196 million on Wednesday to lead the daily box office for a sixth consecutive day. Ocean’s 8 was down 31.9 percent from Tuesday’s performance. Ocean’s 8
continues to perform towards the higher end of expectations with a very healthy six-day take of $56.338 million. That places Ocean’s 8 18.6 percent ahead of the $47.501 million six-day haul of 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen
and 2.3 percent ahead of the $55.092 million six-day start of 2013’s The Heat. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Ocean’s 8 will gross $21.0 million in its second weekend. |
| It was a close three-way race for second on Wednesday between Solo: A Star Wars Story, Deadpool 2 and Hereditary. Disney’s Solo: A Star Wars Story led the trio with $1.618 million
for the day. That represented a 28.6 percent decline from Tuesday and a very solid 36.4 percent decrease from last Wednesday. The 20-day total for Solo: A Star Wars Story stands at a significantly softer than expected
$182.387 million. The film is running 9.4 percent behind the $201.382 million 20-day total of last year’s Justice League. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a fourth weekend take of $10.0 million for Solo: A Star Wars Story. |
| Fox’s Deadpool 2 took in $1.604 million to remain in a close third place. Despite losing 153 locations yesterday with the arrival of Superfly; Deadpool 2 was down just 22.5 percent from
Tuesday and down 29.3 percent from last Wednesday. The 27-day total for Deadpool 2 stands at $284.545 million, which leaves the film $15.455 million away from reaching the $300 million domestic milestone. BoxOfficeReport
is predicting a fifth weekend gross of $9.0 million for Deadpool 2. |
| A24’s Hereditary continued to follow closely behind in fourth with $1.566 million. That represented a slim (and very encouraging) 20.0 percent decline from Tuesday. Hereditary continues to
outpace expectations with a six-day start of $18.797 million. The film is running an impressive 71.4 percent ahead of the $10.966 million six-day haul of 2016’s The Witch. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that
Hereditary will take in $7.0 million in its second weekend. |
| Sony’s Superfly rounded out Wednesday’s top five with a modest opening day take of $1.203 million. It should be noted that Superfly didn’t have the benefit of Tuesday night previews as part of
yesterday’s opening day gross. Nonetheless, given yesterday’s lackluster start it appears highly likely that Superfly will come in below the $10 million mark during its first five days of release. |
| Disney’s Avengers: Infinity War was down one spot from Tuesday to land in sixth on Wednesday with $895,177. Avengers: Infinity War was down 24.3 percent from Tuesday and down a very slim
16.6 percent from last Wednesday. The 48-day total for Avengers: Infinity War stands at a massive $658.137 million, which leaves the film only $1.227 million away from passing the $659.364 million lifetime gross of 1997’s
Titanic to move into fourth place on the all-time unadjusted domestic list. |
