Warner’s Ocean’s 8 grossed $4.377 million on Monday to lead the daily box office for a fourth consecutive day. Ocean’s 8 declined 60.9 percent from Sunday’s performance. The four-day start for
Ocean’s 8 stands at a healthy $45.985 million, which is towards the higher end of expectations. Ocean’s 8 is running 14.1 percent ahead of the $40.289 million four-day haul of 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen
(which declined 54.0 percent on its first Monday to gross $4.155 million) and 3.5 percent ahead of the $44.441 million four-day launch of 2013’s The Heat (which decreased just 51.4 percent on its first Monday to register $5.326 million). |
It was a close three-way race for second place on Monday between Solo: A Star Wars Story, Deadpool 2 and Hereditary. Disney’s Solo: A Star Wars Story led the trio with
$1.803 million for the day. That represented a 64.9 percent decline from Sunday and a solid 39.2 percent decrease from last Monday. The 18-day total for Solo: A Star Wars Story stands at a significantly softer than
expected $178.503 million. That places the film 10.1 percent behind the $198.545 million 18-day gross of last year’s Justice League. |
Fox’ Deadpool 2 claimed third place with $1.706 million. Deadpool 2 was down 61.6 percent from Sunday and down a very solid 35.8 percent from last Monday. The 25-day total for Deadpool 2
stands at $280.870 million. That leaves Deadpool 2 $19.130 million away from reaching the $300 million domestic milestone and places the film a very respectable 10.2 percent behind the $312.912 million 25-day take of 2016’s
Deadpool. |
A24’s Hereditary followed closely behind in fourth with $1.699 million. Hereditary trailed Deadpool 2 by only $7,042 for the day. Hereditary was down 54.9 percent from Sunday,
which represented one of Monday’s stronger daily percentage holds among wide releases. The four-day launch for Hereditary stands at a stronger than expected $15.274 million. Hereditary is running an impressive
60.5 percent ahead of the $9.516 million four-day start of 2016’s The Witch. |
