Disney’s Solo: A Star Wars Story grossed $3.987 million on Tuesday to lead the daily box office for a twelfth straight day. Solo: A Star Wars Story was up 34.5 percent over Monday and down a
respectable 45.3 percent from last Tuesday. It should be noted that daily grosses for wide releases in general yesterday held up nicely in comparison to last Tuesday, due in part to the summer season starting to kick into gear.
The twelve-day total for Solo: A Star Wars Story stands at a significantly softer than expected $155.942 million. That places the film 11.9 percent behind the $176.966 million twelve-day take of last year’s
Justice League and a disappointing 54.2 percent behind the $340.635 million twelve-day haul of 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. |
Fox’s Deadpool 2 held steady in second with $3.407 million. That represented a 28.7 percent increase over Monday and a very solid 36.3 percent decrease from last Tuesday. The 19-day total for
Deadpool 2 stands at a very healthy $260.560 million. Today, Deadpool 2 will pass the $262.031 million final gross of 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man to become the fifth highest grossing non-MCU Marvel film of
all-time domestically. Deadpool 2 is running 2.9 percent ahead of the $253.213 million 19-day take of last year’s Thor: Ragnarok and a very respectable 10.3 percent behind the $290.440 million 19-day gross of 2016’s
Deadpool. |
STXfilms’ Adrift took in $1.796 million to remain in third place. Adrift was up a strong 46.1 percent over Monday’s performance. The five-day start for Adrift stands at $14.629 million,
which is in line with expectations. Adrift is running 9.9 percent ahead of the $13.311 million five-day launch of last year’s The Mountain Between Us and 38.0 percent behind the $23.587 million five-day haul of
2016’s Me Before You. |
Paramount’s Book Club was up one spot over Monday to move into fourth place on Tuesday with $1.667 million. In the process, Book Club passed the $50 million domestic mark yesterday. Thanks in
part to terrific holding power, Book Club has grossed a stronger than expected $50.314 million in 19 days. Book Club continued to hold up very well yesterday, as the film was up a very strong 52.8 percent over Monday
and down a slim 14.9 percent from last Tuesday. |
Disney’s Avengers: Infinity War was down one spot from Monday to round out Tuesday’s top five with $1.555 million. That represented a 33.7 percent increase over Monday and a decrease of just
21.4 percent from last Tuesday. The 40-day total for Avengers: Infinity War stands at a massive $645.725 million. That leaves the film just $6.546 million away from surpassing 2015’s Jurassic World to move into
fifth place on the all-time unadjusted domestic list. |
