Disney’s Solo: A Star Wars Story grossed $4.856 million on Wednesday to lead the daily box office for a sixth consecutive day. Solo: A Star Wars Story declined 33.4 percent from Tuesday,
which represented the day’s sharpest daily percentage decline among wide releases. The six-day start for Solo: A Star Wars Story stands at a significantly lower than expected $115.168 million. That places the film
5.9 percent behind the $122.350 million six-day haul of last year’s Justice League and a disappointing 43.9 percent behind the $205.227 million six-day launch of 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. BoxOfficeReport
is predicting a second weekend gross of $31.0 million for Solo: A Star Wars Story. |
Fox’s Deadpool 2 held steady in second place with $3.866 million. Deadpool 2 showed some signs of stabilizing on Tuesday, as the film declined 27.7 percent from Tuesday and a sizable
51.9 percent from last Wednesday. Deadpool 2 has grossed a very healthy $227.750 million in even days. The film is running 39.1 percent ahead of the $163.725 million thirteen-day take of last year’s Logan and an
understandable 9.0 percent behind the $250.285 million thirteen-day haul of 2016’s Deadpool. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Deadpool 2 will take in $20.0 million during its third weekend. |
Paramount’s Book Club was up one spot from Tuesday to claim third on Wednesday with $1.665 million. Book Club continued to display strong holding power yesterday, as the film was down
15.1 percent from Tuesday and down a slim 18.8 percent from last Wednesday. Thanks in part to terrific holding power, Book Club has grossed a stronger than expected $38.955 million in thirteen days. The film already has a
current total gross to opening weekend ratio 2.87 to 1 and is set to surpass the $40 million domestic mark today. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a third weekend take of $6.8 million for Book Club. |
Disney’s Avengers: Infinity War was down one spot from Tuesday to land in fourth place on Wednesday with $1.465 million. Avengers: Infinity War also held up nicely yesterday, as the film was
down 26.0 percent from Tuesday and down only 23.0 percent from last Wednesday. The 34-day total for Avengers: Infinity War stands at a massive $631.092 million. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Avengers: Infinity War
will gross $10.2 million during its sixth weekend. |
Warner’s Life of the Party and Universal’s Breaking In continued to claim fifth and sixth place with respective daily grosses of $628,941 and $448,990. Life of the Party decreased
21.5 percent from Tuesday and a very slim 7.0 percent from last Wednesday, while Breaking In declined 27.7 percent from Tuesday and a slim 15.8 percent from last Wednesday. Respective 20-day grosses stand at
$42.291 million for Life of the Party (which is on the low end of expectations) and at $38.160 million for Breaking In (which is on the high end of expectations). |
