Disney’s Avengers: Infinity War grossed $4.626 million on Monday to lead the daily box office for an 18th consecutive day. Avengers: Infinity War declined 75.8 percent from Sunday’s Mother’s Day
take and a very respectable 44.2 percent from last Monday. Avengers: Infinity War passed the $550 million domestic mark yesterday and has grossed $552.716 million in 18 days. The film is running 19.3 percent ahead of the
$463.353 million 18-day haul of 2012’s Marvel’s The Avengers and 9.1 percent ahead of the $506.428 million 18-day take of Black Panther earlier this year. |
Internationally, Avengers: Infinity War grossed an estimated $26.1 million on Monday, which included a $17.6 million take from China. The film’s four-day start in China stands at $216.9 million. To date,
Avengers: Infinity War has grossed $1.086 billion internationally and a massive $1.638 billion globally. |
It remained a very close race for second place yesterday between Warner’s Life of the Party and Universal’s Breaking In. Life of the Party had the slight edge for the day with
$1.277 million, which placed it a very slim $16,461 ahead of Breaking In. Life of the Party was down a very sharp 81.4 percent from Sunday’s inflated Mother’s Day performance. The four-day total for
Life of the Party stands at $19.163 million, which is towards the lower end of expectations. |
Breaking In placed in a close third with $1.260 million. That represented a very sharp 82.8 percent decline from Sunday’s Mother’s Day take. Breaking In has been performing nearly on par with
Life of the Party thus far with a four-day start of $18.890 million. That is towards the higher end of pre-release expectations. It should be noted that Breaking In is currently playing in 1,119 fewer locations than
Life of the Party is, which gives it the more impressive per-location performance of the two. |
Lionsgate, Pantelion and MGM’s Overboard claimed fourth with $732,660. Overboard was down a very sharp 82.4 percent form Mother’s Day and down a very solid 36.4 percent from last Monday.
Overboard is being aided this week by strong word of mouth and by playing in an additional 383 locations. Overboard passed the $30 million domestic mark yesterday and has grossed $30.091 million in eleven days, which is
on the high end of expectations. |
Paramount’s A Quiet Place rounded out Monday’s top five with $621,088. That represented a 66.9 percent decline from Sunday and a slim 10.7 percent decrease from last Monday. A Quiet Place passed
the $170 million mark yesterday and has grossed a much stronger than expected $170.229 million through 39 days of release. |
