Paramount’s A Quiet Place grossed $4.171 million on Monday to lead the daily box office for a fourth consecutive day. A Quiet Place declined 66.0 percent from Sunday, which represented
one of the day’s stronger daily percentage holds among wide releases. A Quiet Place continues to demolish expectations with a strong four-day start of $54.374 million. That places the film an exceptional
96.8 percent ahead of the $27.632 million four-day launch of 2016’s The Girl on the Train and 26.6 percent ahead of the $42.940 million four-day take of last year’s Split. |
Warner’s Ready Player One claimed second place with $1.658 million. Ready Player One was down 75.5 percent from Sunday and down a very sharp 68.4 percent from last Monday. It should be
noted that percentage declines from last Monday were sharp in general yesterday as a result of last week’s midweek grosses being inflated by the post-Easter frame. Ready Player One has grossed $98.143 million in
twelve days and is set to surpass the $100 million domestic mark today. |
Universal’s Blockers placed in third with $1.436 million. That represented a 68.4 percent decline from Sunday’s performance. Blockers has grossed $21.992 million in four days, which is
a bit ahead of expectations. Blockers is running 20.1 percent ahead of the recent $18.308 million four-day start of fellow R-rated comedy Game Night. Going forward, Blockers will hope to duplicate the
strong holding power displayed by Game Night. |
Disney’s Black Panther claimed fourth place with $641,593. Black Panther was down 73.6 percent from Sunday and down a sharp 60.8 percent from last Monday’s post-Easter performance. Over the
weekend, Black Panther passed Titanic to move into third place on the all-time unadjusted domestic list. The 53-day total for Black Panther stands at a massive $666.272 million. |
Lionsgate’s Tyler Perry’s Acrimony followed closely behind in fifth with $639,204. Acrimony trailed Black Panther by a very slim $2,389 for the day. Acrimony
declined 71.3 percent from Sunday and a sharp 62.5 percent from last Monday. The eleven-day total for Acrimony stands at a solid $32.305 million, which is towards the higher end of expectations. |
Roadside’s I Can Only Imagine took sixth place with $618,682. I Can Only Imagine was down 71.6 percent from Sunday and down a sizable 55.7 percent from last Tuesday.
I Can Only Imagine continues to pad its breakout status with a 25-day total of $69.147 million. That already gives the film a current total gross to opening weekend ratio of 4.04 to 1. |
