Disney’s Black Panther took in $3.942 million on Wednesday to lead the daily box office for a 20th straight day. Black Panther was down a sizable 37.0 percent from Tuesday, but still
down a solid 42.7 percent from last Wednesday. The 20-day total for Black Panther stands at a massive $516.628 million. That represents the ninth largest unadjusted domestic gross of all-time and places the film
an impressive 9.4 percent ahead of the $472.240 million 20-day haul of 2012’s Marvel’s The Avengers. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a fourth weekend gross of $38.5 million for Black Panther, which would
represent the third largest fourth weekend gross of all-time. |
Internationally, Black Panther grossed an estimated $5.4 million on Wednesday. To date, Black Panther has grossed $414.1 million internationally and $930.7 million
globally (which leaves the film just $69.3 million away from the $1 billion global milestone). |
Fox’s Red Sparrow grossed $1.359 million to remain in second place. That represented a 33.5 percent decline from Tuesday’s performance. Red Sparrow has grossed $21.699 million in six
days, which is on the low end of pre-release expectations and places the film 13.5 percent behind the $25.096 million six-day start of 2015’s Joy. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Red Sparrow will take in
$8.0 million in its second weekend. |
Warner and New Line’s Game Night was up one spot from Tuesday to move into third on Wednesday with $903,182. Game Night continues to hold up nicely, as the film was down 26.4 percent
from Tuesday and down just 33.2 percent from last Wednesday. Game Night has grossed a promising $36.209 million in thirteen days. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a third weekend take of $6.8 million for
Game Night. |
MGM’s Death Wish was down one spot and a very sharp 38.5 percent from Tuesday to land in fourth on Wednesday with $901,409. Death Wish has grossed $16.415 million in six days, which is
a bit below expectations and nearly on par with the $16.582 million six-day launch of last year’s The Foreigner. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a second weekend gross of $6.5 million for Death Wish. |
Sony’s Peter Rabbit and Paramount’s Annihilation placed in fifth and sixth on Wednesday with respective daily grosses of $580,681 and $559,748. Respective total grosses stand at a
stronger than expected $86.037 million for Peter Rabbit in 27 days and at $22.429 million for Annihilation in thirteen days, which is on par with expectations. BoxOfficeReport is predicting weekend grosses
of $7.0 million for Peter Rabbit and $3.0 million for Annihilation. |
