Avengers: Endgame Passes Jurassic World Domestically After $8.3M Wednesday Gross
Thursday, May 9, 2019 (Morning Update)
Disney’s Avengers: Endgame took in an estimated $8.3 million on Wednesday. Avengers: Endgame has now easily led the daily box office for thirteen consecutive days. Yesterday saw Avengers: Endgame surpass the $652.271 million total domestic gross of 2015’s Jurassic World to move into sixth place on the all-time domestic list. On Wednesday, Avengers: Endgame was down 33.7 percent from Tuesday and down a very sharp 67.1 percent from last Wednesday. In comparison, last year’s Avengers: Infinity War grossed $7.052 million on its second Wednesday (which represented a similar 33.9 percent decline from the previous day and a 58.4 percent decline from the previous Wednesday). The thirteen-day total for Avengers: Endgame stands at $652.9 million. That is 36.3 percent ahead of the $479.116 million thirteen-day take of Avengers: Infinity War and 3.8 percent ahead of the $629.035 million thirteen-day take of 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In the near future, Avengers: Endgame will fall behind the overall pace of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Internationally, Avengers: Endgame grossed an estimated $22.1 million on Wednesday. To date, Avengers: Endgame has grossed $1.650 billion internationally and $2.303 billion globally. Avengers: Endgame is the second highest grossing film of all-time globally and is currently a reachable $484.8 million behind the $2.788 billion lifetime global gross of 2009’s Avatar. International totals by market for Avengers: Endgame through Wednesday include $589.0 million in China, $97.8 million in the United Kingdom, $89.2 million in South Korea, $64.6 million in Mexico, $63.4 million in Brazil, $55.5 million in India, $48.9 million in Germany, $48.4 million in Australia, $47.8 million in France, $38.5 million in Japan, $37.7 million in Russia, $31.9 million in Indonesia, $30.1 million in Italy, $29.9 million in the Philippines and $26.4 million in Spain.

As for this coming weekend, BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Avengers: Endgame will hold onto first place in a fairly close domestic box office battle with Warner and Legendary’s Pokémon Detective Pikachu. BoxOfficeReport is predicting $68.0 million this weekend for Avengers: Endgame and $62.0 million for Detective Pikachu.

Avengers: Endgame Leads Tuesday with $12.5M, Totals $644.5M Domestically in 12 Days
Wednesday, May 8, 2019 (Morning Update)
Disney’s Avengers: Endgame took in an estimated $12.5 million on Tuesday to easily remain at the top of the daily box office for a twelfth consecutive day. Avengers: Endgame was up 16.7 percent over Monday and down a sharp, but understandable 62.2 percent from last Tuesday. In comparison, last year’s Avengers: Infinity War grossed $10.674 million on its second Tuesday (which represented a 28.9 percent increase over the previous day and a 54.4 percent decrease from the previous Tuesday). The twelve-day total for Avengers: Endgame stands at $644.5 million. That is 36.5 percent ahead of the $472.064 million twelve-day take of Avengers: Infinity War and 7.2 percent ahead of the $600.950 million twelve-day haul of 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Avengers: Endgame is currently the seventh highest grossing film of all-time domestically and today should surpass 2015’s Jurassic World ($652.271 million) to move into sixth place on the list.

Internationally, Avengers: Endgame grossed an estimated $21.7 million on Tuesday. That brings the film’s international total to $1.628 billion and current global haul to $2.273 billion. Avengers: Endgame is the second highest grossing film of all-time globally and is currently a reachable $515.3 million behind the $2.788 billion lifetime global gross of 2009’s Avatar. International totals by market for Avengers: Endgame through Tuesday include $585.4 million in China, $96.6 million in the United Kingdom, $88.3 million in South Korea, $63.8 million in Mexico, $61.2 million in Brazil, $54.6 million in India, $48.3 million in Germany, $47.9 million in Australia, $45.3 million in France, $37.6 million in Japan, $36.8 million in Russia, $31.5 million in Indonesia, $29.8 million in Italy, $29.6 million in the Philippines and $25.7 million in Spain.

Avengers: Endgame Passes The Avengers Domestically After $10.7M Monday Take
Tuesday, May 7, 2019 (Morning Update)
Disney’s Avengers: Endgame grossed an estimated $10.7 million on Monday to easily lead the daily box office for an eleventh consecutive day. Yesterday saw Avengers: Endgame surpass the $623.358 million final domestic gross of 2012’s Marvel’s The Avengers to move into seventh place on the all-time domestic list. On Monday, Avengers: Endgame was down 76.3 percent from Sunday and down a very sharp, but understandable 71.0 percent from the previous Monday. In comparison, last year’s Avengers: Infinity War grossed $8.284 million on its second Monday (which represented a 77.4 percent decline from the previous day and a 66.5 percent decline from the previous Monday). The $631.9 million eleven-day total for Avengers: Endgame is 37.0 percent ahead of the $461.391 million eleven-day haul of Avengers: Infinity War and 10.6 percent ahead of the $571.421 million eleven-day take of 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Internationally, Avengers: Endgame grossed an estimated $34.0 million on Monday. To date, Avengers: Endgame has grossed $1.607 billion internationally and a massive $2.238 billion globally. Avengers: Endgame is the second highest grossing film of all-time globally and is currently a reachable $549.6 million behind the $2.788 billion lifetime global gross of 2009’s Avatar. International totals by market for Avengers: Endgame through Monday include $581.1 million in China, $95.5 million in the United Kingdom, $87.1 million in South Korea, $62.8 million in Mexico, $59.5 million in Brazil, $53.6 million in India, $47.5 million in Germany, $47.2 million in Australia, $44.0 million in France, $36.7 million in Japan, $36.0 million in Russia, $31.1 million in Indonesia, $29.5 million in Italy, $29.2 million in the Philippines and $25.3 million in Spain.

Avengers: Endgame Soars to $621.3M Domestically in Ten Days
Monday, May 6, 2019 (Afternoon Update)
With actuals now in, Disney’s Avengers: Endgame took in $147.383 million this weekend (which was $1.579 million ahead of yesterday's studio estimate). That represented the second largest second weekend gross of all-time, as the film finished just $1.820 million behind the $149.203 million second weekend gross of 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With a massive ten-day domestic total of $621.278 million, Avengers: Endgame has now passed 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($620.181 million) to move into eighth place on the all-time domestic list. Today will see Avengers: Endgame zoom past 2012’s Marvel’s The Avengers ($623.358 million) to move into seventh place on the list.

Avengers: Endgame Passes $600M Domestic and $1.5B International Milestones
Sunday, May 5, 2019 (Morning Update)
Disney’s Avengers: Endgame continued its historic performance this weekend with an estimated $145.80 million domestically. That represented the second largest second weekend gross of all-time; just behind the $149.20 million second weekend gross of 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Avengers: Endgame still has an outside chance of breaking the second weekend record if the film can have a significantly stronger than estimated hold on Sunday. The second weekend take of Avengers: Endgame was 27.0 percent stronger than the $114.77 million second weekend take of last year’s Avengers: Infinity War. Avengers: Endgame did experience a sharp decline this weekend, as the film was down 59.2 percent from last weekend’s record-smashing opening weekend performance. In comparison, Avengers: Infinity War declined 55.5 percent in its second weekend. While critical reviews and word of mouth have been terrific for Avengers: Endgame, the immense opening weekend rush-out for the film ultimately helped lead to a larger than expected percentage decline this weekend.

In the bigger picture, Avengers: Endgame passed the $600 million domestic mark this weekend and has grossed $619.70 million after just ten days of release. That places Avengers: Endgame 36.8 percent ahead of the $453.11 million ten-day take of Avengers: Infinity War and 14.7 percent ahead of the $540.06 million ten-day haul of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Avengers: Endgame has now moved into ninth place on the all-time domestic list and is about to zoom past both 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($620.18 million) and 2012’s Marvel’s The Avengers ($623.36 million) to move into seventh place on the list. Avengers: Endgame is just the tenth film ever to gross at least $600 million domestically (with seven of the ten films having been distributed by Disney, including four MCU films).

This weekend also saw Avengers: Endgame clear the $1.5 billion international mark and zoom past the $2 billion global milestone. After grossing an estimated $282.2 million internationally for the frame, Avengers: Endgame has grossed $1.569 billion internationally and a massive $2.189 billion globally to date. That already makes Avengers: Endgame the second highest grossing film of all-time both internationally and globally; behind only 2009’s Avatar on both lists. This weekend Avengers: Endgame passed by the respective $1.528 billion international and $2.187 billion global lifetime grosses of 1997’s Titanic (which now ranks in third place on both lists). Avengers: Endgame is only the fifth film ever to gross at least $2 billion globally (joining Avatar, Titanic, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Infinity War). Avengers: Endgame currently trails the $2.788 billion lifetime global gross of Avatar by a reachable $599.3 million.

Estimated international totals by market for Avengers: Endgame through Sunday include $575.8 million in China, $89.9 million in the United Kingdom, $82.1 million in South Korea, $61.6 million in Mexico, $56.3 million in Brazil, $51.8 million in India, $47.4 million in Germany, $46.2 million in Australia, $43.1 million in France, $34.4 million in Japan, $32.6 million in Russia, $30.9 million in Indonesia, $29.0 million in Italy, $28.7 million in the Philippines and $24.9 million in Spain.

Avengers: Endgame Passes $500M Domestic Mark After $40.6M Friday Take
Saturday, May 4, 2019 (Morning Update)
Disney’s Avengers: Endgame started out its second week of release with an estimated $40.64 million on Friday. Relatively speaking, Avengers: Endgame did experience some slowing yesterday, as the film was up 88.6 percent over Thursday and down 74.2 percent from last Friday’s record-shattering opening day performance. In comparison, last year’s Avengers: Infinity War grossed $31.45 million on its second Friday, which represented a 102.9 percent increase over its first Thursday and a 70.4 percent decrease from its opening day Friday take.

In the bigger picture, Avengers: Endgame is obviously continuing a historic performance, as the film crossed the $500 million domestic mark yesterday and has grossed a massive $514.31 million domestically in just eight days. The previous fastest to $500 million record-holder, 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, took ten days to reach the $500 million domestic milestone. Avengers: Endgame is running 16.8 percent ahead of the $440.18 million eight-day take of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 39.1 percent ahead of the $369.79 million eight-day haul of Avengers: Infinity War. Yesterday also saw Avengers: Endgame move into twelfth place on the all-time domestic list (as the film passed the lifetime domestic totals of 1999’s Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, 2016’s Finding Dory and 2017’s Beauty and the Beast). At this point, it looks like it could be a photo finish as to whether or not Avengers: Endgame can top the $149.20 million second weekend gross of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to establish a new-all time second weekend record.

Internationally, Avengers: Endgame added an estimated $88.2 million on Friday. To date, Avengers: Endgame has grossed $1.400 billion internationally and $1.915 billion globally. Avengers: Endgame is currently the third highest grossing film ever internationally and the fifth highest grossing film of all-time globally. Avengers: Endgame grossed $35.8 million in China on Friday, which brings the film’s ten-day total to $547.4 million. Additional international totals by market for Avengers: Endgame through Friday include $75.6 million in the United Kingdom, $68.4 million in South Korea, $53.5 million in Mexico, $47.0 million in Brazil, $45.7 million in India, $39.9 million in Germany, $39.8 million in Australia, $37.3 million in France, $29.8 million in Japan, $27.6 million in Russia, $26.3 million in Indonesia, $26.0 million in Italy and $25.9 million in the Philippines.

In other domestic box office news, this weekend’s three new wide releases were all off to modest starts on Friday. Sony and Screen Gems’ The Intruder was second for the day with an estimated $3.90 million, Lionsgate and Summit’s Long Shot followed in third with an estimated $3.63 million and STXfilms’ UglyDolls took fourth with an estimated $2.50 million. Expectations for all three films had been further softened after the break-out launch of Avengers: Endgame. At this point, we could be looking at respective weekend debuts of roughly $10.7 million to $11.2 million for The Intruder, $10.5 million to $11.0 million for Long Shot and a lackluster $9.0 million to $9.5 million for UglyDolls.

Avengers: Endgame Takes in $21.4M Domestically and $100.0M Internationally
on Thursday
Friday, May 3, 2019 (Morning Update)
Disney’s Avengers: Endgame rounded out its historic first week domestically with an estimated $21.4 million on Thursday. That did represent a sharp 15.3 percent decline from Wednesday, but obviously in the bigger picture the film’s performance yesterday was still extremely impressive. In comparison, last year’s Avengers: Infinity War decreased 8.6 percent on its first Thursday to gross $15.501 million. Three new wide releases entering the marketplace on Thursday evening (Sony’s The Intruder, Lionsgate’s Long Shot and STXfilms’ UglyDolls) likely played a part in yesterday’s sharp decline for Avengers: Endgame. While collective preview grosses weren’t much for the three new releases, Avengers: Endgame still likely started to lose a few showtimes last night as a result of the added presence of the three new films (and the number of screens per theatre Avengers: Endgame was playing on during its first week).

The seven-day domestic start for Avengers: Endgame stands at a record-breaking $473.7 million. That is a very impressive 21.2 percent stronger than the $390.856 million seven-day gross of previous record-holder 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Avengers: Endgame is also running 40.0 percent ahead of the $338.333 million seven-day haul of Avengers: Infinity War. Yesterday saw Avengers: Endgame zoom past the $459.006 million final domestic gross of 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Avengers: Endgame is already the 15th highest grossing film of all-time domestically (without taking into account ticket-price inflation).

Internationally, Avengers: Endgame continued to soar with an estimated $100.0 million on Thursday. That brings the film’s international total to $1.312 billion and global haul to $1.786 billion. Avengers: Endgame is already the fourth highest grossing film of all-time internationally and the fifth highest grossing film of all-time globally. Thursday’s international performance for Avengers: Endgame was led by a $52.1 million take in China. Avengers: Endgame passed the $500 million mark in China yesterday and has grossed a massive $511.6 million in nine days. Additional international totals by market for Avengers: Endgame through Thursday include $71.1 million in the United Kingdom, $64.0 million in South Korea, $50.9 million in Mexico, $44.2 million in Brazil, $43.7 million in India, $37.9 million in Australia, $37.1 million in Germany, $35.4 million in France, $27.1 million in Japan, $25.3 million in Italy, $25.0 million in the Philippines, $24.8 million in Indonesia, $24.1 million in Russia and $20.8 million in Spain.

Avengers: Endgame Passes $450M Domestic and $1.2B International Marks
on Wednesday
Thursday, May 2, 2019 (Morning Update)
Disney’s Avengers: Endgame continued to astonish on Wednesday with an estimated $25.2 million domestically and a massive $157.8 million internationally for a daily global take of $183.0 million. The film’s international performance on Wednesday received a significant boost from the May Day holiday throughout parts of the world. To date, Avengers: Endgame has grossed $452.3 million domestically and $1.212 billion internationally for a global total of $1.664 billion. That already makes Avengers: Endgame the 17th highest grossing film of all-time domestically, the fourth highest grossing film of all-time internationally and the sixth highest grossing film of all-time globally.

Domestically, Avengers: Endgame held up very nicely on Wednesday, as the film was down just 23.9 percent from Tuesday. In comparison, last year’s Avengers: Infinity War fell 27.6 percent on its first Wednesday to gross $16.967 million. Avengers: Endgame is running 40.1 percent ahead of the $322.831 million six-day haul of Avengers: Infinity War and 24.4 percent ahead of the $363.460 million six-day launch of 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens (which was the previous highest grossing six-day record-holder until Avengers: Endgame broke that record yesterday). Given the film’s midweek holding power, strong critical reviews, excellent word of mouth, repeat business and lackluster new competition this weekend, BoxOfficeReport is predicting a record-breaking second weekend gross of $168.0 million for Avengers: Endgame.

Our full weekend predictions can be found at:
www.boxofficereport.com/predictions/predictions20190501.html

Thanks in part to the holiday, Avengers: Endgame grossed an estimated $70.4 million in China on Wednesday, which brings the film’s eight-day total to $459.4 million. The film is estimated to gross $50.0 million in China on Thursday, which brings the film’s nine-day total to $509.4 million. Please note that Thursday’s estimate in China isn’t included in the earlier mentioned international total for the film. Additional international totals by market for Avengers: Endgame through Wednesday include $68.2 million in the United Kingdom, $60.3 million in South Korea, $48.6 million in Mexico, $40.9 million in India, $40.4 million in Brazil, $36.7 million in Australia, $35.8 million in Germany, $33.9 million in France, $24.6 million in Italy, $24.4 million in Japan, $24.1 million in the Philippines, $23.3 million in Indonesia, $19.3 million in Russia, $19.1 million in Spain and $19.0 million in Thailand.

Avengers: Endgame Passes $400M Domestic and $1B International Marks on Tuesday
Wednesday, May 1, 2019 (Morning Update)
The historic milestones keep coming at a rapid pace for Disney’s Avengers: Endgame as the film passed both the $400 million domestic and $1 billion international milestones on Tuesday. Avengers: Endgame reached the $400 million domestic milestone in five days, which easily surpassed the previous record of eight days that was held by 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Domestically, Avengers: Endgame grossed an estimated $32.9 million on Tuesday. That represented the third largest Tuesday gross of all-time, behind only the $37.362 million first-Tuesday gross of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (which received an added boost from falling three days before Christmas) and the $35.867 million opening day gross of 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man. Tuesday’s gross for Avengers: Endgame was a very impressive 40.4 percent ahead of the $23.426 million first-Tuesday gross of last year’s Avengers: Infinity War. In falling 10.8 percent from Monday’s performance, Avengers: Endgame did experience a larger daily percentage decline than Avengers: Infinity War did on its first Tuesday (5.3 percent), but that was very reasonable given that Avengers: Endgame experienced a stronger daily percentage hold on Monday than Avengers: Infinity War did on its first Monday. The five-day start for Avengers: Endgame stands at $426.9 million. That is 31.2 percent ahead of the $325.438 million five-day launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 39.6 percent ahead of the $305.864 million five-day haul of Avengers: Infinity War. Avengers: Endgame is already the 20th highest grossing film of all-time domestically.

Internationally, Avengers: Endgame took in an exceptional estimated $105.3 million on Tuesday. That brings the film’s international total to $1.054 billion and global haul to a massive $1.481 billion. Avengers: Endgame is already the sixth highest grossing film of all-time internationally and the eighth highest grossing film of all-time globally. As impressive as Tuesday’s international performance was, Wednesday’s international take is expected to soar even higher thanks in part to the May Day holiday throughout parts of the world. After grossing an estimated $39.9 million on Tuesday in China (to bring the film’s seven-day total to $389.1 million), Avengers: Endgame is estimated to gross $74.0 million on Wednesday in China (to bring the film’s eight-day total to $463.0 million). Please note that Wednesday’s estimate in China isn’t included in the earlier mentioned international total for the film. Additional international totals by market for Avengers: Endgame through Tuesday include $64.7 million in the United Kingdom, $54.8 million in South Korea, $40.7 million in Mexico, $36.3 million in India, $35.2 million in Australia, $34.1 million in Brazil, $31.8 million in Germany, $29.9 million in France, $22.6 million in Italy, $21.8 million in the Philippines, $20.7 million in Japan and $19.9 million in Indonesia.

Avengers: Endgame on the Verge of $400M After Massive $36.7M Monday Take
Tuesday, April 30, 2019 (Morning Update)
Disney’s Avengers: Endgame continued its historic run on Monday with an estimated $36.7M for the day. That represented the third largest first-Monday gross of all-time, behind only last year’s Black Panther ($40.151 million) and 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($40.110 million). It should be noted that Black Panther received an added boost from Presidents' Day falling on its first Monday, while Star Wars: The Force Awakens benefited from its first Monday falling four days before Christmas. Monday’s performance for Avengers: Endgame was an exceptional 48.3 percent stronger than the $24.740 million first-Monday gross of last year’s Avengers: Infinity War. Avengers: Endgame declined 59.4 percent from Sunday, which represented a significantly better daily percentage hold than the 64.3 percent Avengers: Infinity War declined on its first Monday.

Avengers: Endgame has grossed a massive $393.9M in its first four days. That easily represents the largest four-day start of all-time, as the film is running 36.7 percent ahead of the $288.076 million four-day start of previous four-day record-holder Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Avengers: Endgame is also running 39.5 percent ahead of the $282.438 million four-day start of Avengers: Infinity War. Avengers: Endgame will obviously zoom past the $400 million domestic mark on Tuesday (the film’s fifth day of release), which will make it the fastest film ever to reach the $400 million domestic milestone (current record-holder Star Wars: The Force Awakens took eight days to do so, while Avengers: Infinity War took nine days).

Internationally, Avengers: Endgame grossed an estimated $82.2 million on Monday. That brings the film’s international total to $948.7 million and global haul to $1.3426 billion. Avengers: Endgame is already the ninth largest film of all-time internationally and the tenth largest film of all-time globally. Monday’s international performance was led by an $18.6 million take in China (where the film has grossed $349.1 million to date) and the film’s $7.8 million opening day performance in Russia. Additional international totals for Avengers: Endgame through Monday include $60.7 million in the United Kingdom, $50.7 million in South Korea, $35.8 million in Mexico, $33.5 million in Australia, $32.0 million in India, $30.2 million in Brazil, $28.8 million in Germany, $26.9 million in France, $20.7 million in Italy, $20.0 million in the Philippines, $17.6 million in Indonesia and $17.0 million in Japan.

Avengers: Endgame Establishes New Opening Weekend Benchmark with $357.1M
Monday, April 29, 2019 (Afternoon Update)
Disney’s Avengers: Endgame soared even higher than estimated yesterday, with this weekend’s record-breaking opening weekend domestic performance coming in at $357.115 million with actuals. That was nearly $100 million higher ($99.417 million) than the $257.698 million debut of previous opening weekend record holder Avengers: Infinity War last April. Avengers: Endgame grossed $157.461 million on Friday, declined 30.6 percent on Saturday to take in $109.264 million and was down just 17.3 percent on Sunday to gross $90.389 million. There have only been seven unadjusted single day grosses over $90 million in history; with Avengers: Endgame claiming three of them.

The updated international debut for Avengers: Endgame is $866.5 million. That brings the film’s global launch to a record-smashing $1.2236 billion.

Avengers: Endgame Sets New Benchmarks with $350.0M Domestic,
$1.209B Global Starts
Sunday, April 28, 2019 (Morning Update)
Disney’s Avengers: Endgame rewrote the box office history books this weekend with estimated debuts of $350.0 million domestically, $859.0 million internationally and $1.209 billion globally. Avengers: Endgame easily set a new domestic opening weekend record, as the film soared past the $257.70 million debut of last year’s Avengers: Infinity War by an awesome 35.9 percent. Avengers: Endgame also opened 41.1 percent ahead of the $247.97 million launch of 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In addition to being the first film ever to debut with $300 million domestically, Avengers: Endgame is the first film ever to debut with $1 billion globally. The previous global debut record-holder was Avengers: Infinity War with $640.0 million (though it should be noted that China wasn’t part of the global debut for Avengers: Infinity War).

Avengers: Endgame turned into a cultural phenomenon throughout the world this weekend, as the film blew past the already lofty box office standards of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the already mighty pre-release expectations for Avengers: Endgame. Domestically, Avengers: Endgame registered an astonishing per-location average of $75,075 from 4,662 locations; a feat that is made even more impressive than it already is by the film’s 181-minute run time. IMAX grosses were responsible for an estimated $26.5 million (7.6%) of this weekend’s overall gross. Non-IMAX premium large format screens were responsible for 11 percent of this weekend’s overall gross, while 3D shows represented 20 percent of this weekend’s overall gross. The record-breaking online pre-sales for Avengers: Endgame and the publicity that surrounded those pre-sales were obviously key components to the film’s success this weekend.

Avengers: Endgame started with a record-breaking $156.70 million on Friday (which included a record-breaking $60.0 million from Thursday night previews that began at 5PM), declined 30.4 percent on Saturday to take in $109.00 million (which represents the first ever single day gross above $100 million without the aid of preview grosses) and is estimated to decline 22.7 percent on Sunday to gross $84.30 million. The film’s estimated opening weekend to preview gross ratio of 5.83 to 1 is extremely impressive for grosses of this magnitude.

Avengers: Endgame has received exceptional critical reviews and also looks to be going over extremely well with audiences, as the film received a rare A+ rating on CinemaScore (making it the third MCU film to do so, joining 2012’s Marvel's The Avengers and last year’s Black Panther). Looking forward, Avengers: Endgame would need a total gross to opening weekend ratio of 2.676 to 1 to reach the $936.662 million total domestic gross of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (and the needed ratio would dip down a bit if Sunday ultimately comes in higher than the current projection). While a sizable portion of the Avengers fan base rushed out this weekend, strong word of mouth and repeat viewings should help offset some of the film’s built-in front-loading going forward.

As mentioned, Avengers: Endgame launched with an estimated $859.0 million internationally and $1.209 billion globally. Avengers: Endgame easily set a new record for the largest ever international launch, as the previous record-holder was 2017’s The Fate of the Furious with an international start of $443.2 million. IMAX grosses were responsible for $91.5 million (7.6 percent) of the this weekend's overall global grosses for Avengers: Endgame, while 3D made up 45 percent of the film’s overall global grosses.

The international performance of Avengers: Endgame was led by a massive five-day start of $330.5 million in China. Additional international debuts for Avengers: Endgame included $53.8 million in the United Kingdom, $47.4 million in South Korea, $33.1 million in Mexico, $30.8 million in Australia, $26.9 million in Germany, $26.7 million in India, $26.0 million in Brazil, $24.2 million in France, $19.0 million in Italy, $17.9 million in the Philippines, $14.3 million in Thailand, $14.1 million in Indonesia, $13.3 million in Spain and $13.0 million in Japan. Avengers: Endgame opened in all major international markets this weekend, with the exception of Russia, where the film opens on Monday (April 29).

This weekend also saw fellow Disney and MCU film Captain Marvel claim second place domestically with an estimated $8.05 million. Thanks in part to the added boost from the arrival of Avengers: Endgame and continued strong word of mouth, Captain Marvel declined a slim 11.6 percent from last weekend’s already tremendous hold, while also moving up two spots from last weekend in the rankings. Captain Marvel has grossed a marvelous $413.58 million through 52 days and has now surpassed the $412.56 million final domestic gross of 2017’s Wonder Woman. Captain Marvel didn’t see the same type of boost internationally this weekend, as the film grossed an estimated $2.1 million. That brings the film’s international total to $696.6 million and current global haul to a very impressive $1.110 billion.

Avengers: Endgame Smashes Opening Day Record with $156.7M on Friday
Saturday, April 27, 2019 (Morning Update)
Disney’s Avengers: Endgame continued to display its record-smashing might on Friday with an estimated opening day performance of $156.70 million domestically. Avengers: Endgame easily set a new record for the largest opening day gross of all-time, as the film opened 31.5 percent ahead of the $119.12 million opening day take of previous record holder 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Avengers: Endgame also opened 47.4 percent stronger than the $106.33 million opening day take of last year’s Avengers: Infinity War. When separating out Thursday’s record-breaking preview gross of $60.0 million, Avengers: Endgame grossed an astonishing $96.70 million on Friday itself (the previous Friday record without Thursday previews was the $67.33 million take of Avengers: Infinity War).

On top of the film’s record-breaking start yesterday, word of mouth also looks to be exceptional, as Avengers: Endgame received a rare A+ rating on CinemaScore (making it the third MCU film to do so, joining 2012’s Marvel's The Avengers and last year’s Black Panther). Disney is currently estimating a three-day range of $310 million to $340 million for Avengers: Endgame. At this point, it’s certainly not out of the question that Avengers: Endgame could top the $257.698 million opening weekend record of Avengers: Infinity War by over $100 million when everything is said and done.

Also of note domestically is that fellow Disney and MCU film Captain Marvel took second place on Friday with an estimated $2.49 million. Captain Marvel has grossed a marvelous $408.02 million through 50 days of release and is set to surpass the $412.56 million total domestic gross of 2017’s Wonder Woman by the end of the weekend.

Internationally, Avengers: Endgame has grossed an estimated $487.0 million through the end of Friday. That places the film’s global total through Friday at a massive $643.7 million. With that figure, Avengers: Endgame has already set a new global opening record, as it has already topped the $641.0 million global opening of Avengers: Infinity War with two days to spare (though it should also be noted that China wasn’t part of the global debut for Avengers: Infinity War).

Opening day grosses for Avengers: Endgame on Friday included $12.5 million in Mexico and $9.0 million in India. Additional international grosses for the film through Friday include $27.0 million in the United Kingdom, $23.0 million in South Korea, $19.7 million in Australia, $15.2 million in Germany, $13.5 million in France, $13.4 million in Italy, $12.5 million in Brazil, $10.0 million in the Philippines, $7.7 million in Indonesia and $7.1 million in Hong Kong. In China, Avengers: Endgame grossed $217.4 million through Friday and is estimated to set a new single-day record in China on Saturday with an estimated $82.4 million; bringing the film’s four-day total through Saturday to $300.3 million. Please note that Saturday’s estimated gross in China isn’t included in the earlier mentioned international and global totals for Avengers: Endgame through Friday (doing so brings the film’s global total to $726.1 million).

Avengers: Endgame Sets New All-Time Preview Gross Record with $60.0M
Friday, April 26, 2019 (Morning Update)
Disney’s Avengers: Endgame set a new all-time preview gross record on Thursday night with an estimated $60.0 million. Fan event preview shows started at 5PM for Avengers: Endgame, while regular preview shows started at 6PM.
