Paramount's Scream 7 will look to deliver a franchise-best debut upon arriving in theatres this weekend. The seventh installment of the Scream franchise was directed by Kevin Williamson and features an ensemble cast that includes Neve Campbell, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Isabel May, Anna Camp, Mckenna Grace and Courteney Cox (among others). Campbell and Williamson returning to the Scream franchise has no doubt helped build pre-release buzz for Scream 7. Also helping increase opening weekend potential for Scream 7 is that the film represents the first film in the Scream franchise to play on IMAX screens. Scream 7 will be playing in 3,540 total locations this weekend, has fan event preview shows beginning at 6PM on Thursday and traditional Thursday preview shows beginning as early as 6:30PM. One factor that could prevent Scream 7 from breaking out even further this weekend is the much publicized exit of both Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega from the franchise (both actresses starred in 2022's Scream and 2023's Scream VI). Critical reviews for Scream 7 have been mixed, more so negative than positive, but critical reviews likely won't come into play at the box office until after opening weekend. With that said, there is a strong possibility that Scream 7 could be quite front-loaded towards opening weekend. As for opening weekend, BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Scream 7 will debut with $51.0 million this weekend. That would represent the largest unadjusted opening weekend ever for a Scream film, topping the $44.45 million start of current franchise record-holder Scream VI.

After moving into first place last weekend with $16.86 million, Sony's GOAT should return to second place this weekend. The well-received GOAT declined by just 38.0 percent last weekend and is likely to hold up even better this weekend, especially with this weekend providing family audiences another chance to catch the film before Disney and Pixar's Hoppers arrives in the marketplace next weekend on March 6. Look for GOAT to have another healthy hold this weekend by declining 31.8 percent to take in $11.5 million for the frame.

Last weekend Warner Bros.'s Wuthering Heights declined a sizable, but reasonable 57.3 percent in its second frame to place in a close second with $14.00 million. Wuthering Heights will likely stabilize a bit more this weekend, though potential stabilization will also be limited by the new competition from Scream 7 and from Wuthering Heights losing its IMAX showtimes to Scream 7. Wuthering Heights could decline 52.1 percent to land in third place this weekend with $6.7 million.

Meanwhile, it could prove to be a close three-way race for fourth place this weekend between NEON's EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, Lionsgate's I Can Only Imagine 2 and Amazon MGM Studios' Crime 101. Last weekend, EPiC debuted with an impressive $3.22 million from 325 exclusive IMAX locations. And though EPiC is losing its IMAX screens this weekend, the music documentary is going into wide traditional release, which in combination with Elvis' popularity, could lead to the film performing similarly this weekend as last weekend. I Can Only Imagine 2 is coming off of a softer than anticipated $7.75 million third place debut last weekend, and with $1.80 million of that gross coming from combined preview shows, it is looking likely that I Can Only Imagine 2 will be significantly more front-loaded than its predecessor, 2018's I Can Only Imagine was. BoxOfficeReport is predicting respective weekend grosses of $3.2 million for EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert (which would be essentially unchanged from last weekend), $3.1 million for I Can Only Imagine 2 (which would be a sharp second weekend decline of 60.0 percent) and $3.0 million for Crime 101 (which would be a respectable 45.5 percent decrease from last weekend).
