Although the film opened below expectations last weekend with $51.01 million, Sony's Venom: The Last Dance will have no problem remaining in first place this weekend. Venom: The Last Dance doesn't look to be going over as well with audiences as each of its two processors did (Venom: The Last Dance received a B- rating on CinemaScore, while 2018's Venom and 2021's Venom: Let There Be Carnage both received B+ ratings), but Venom: The Last Dance will have a number of other factors in its favor this weekend, including holding onto IMAX screens and not much entering the marketplace this weekend (in its second weekend Venom: Let There Be Carnage had to face the debut of No Time To Die). Last weekend's performance for Venom: The Last Dance was also likely at least slightly deflated by both the first two games of the World Series and by pre-Halloween festivities over the weekend. With that said, with the exception of Sunday's nice hold, initial daily percentage holds haven't been that encouraging for Venom: The Last Dance. Venom declined 56.4 percent in its second weekend back in October of 2018 (to gross $35.01 million) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage decreased 64.7 percent in its second weekend (to gross $31.75 million) in October of 2021. Venom: The Last Dance may be headed for a second weekend percentage decline in between those of the film's predecessors. Look for Venom: The Last Dance to decrease 60.4 percent this weekend for a second weekend haul of $20.2 million.
It could be a close race for second place between Paramount's Smile 2 and Universal and DreamWorks Animation's The Wild Robot. Last weekend Smile 2 had a poorer than expected second weekend hold by declining a sharp 58.6 percent to gross $9.53 million and The Wild Robot decreased a very solid 32.6 percent to take in $6.81 million. Given the likely deflation of last weekend's grosses and the smaller than usual releases this year for the first weekend of November, Smile 2 and The Wild Robot should both hold up significantly better this weekend than last weekend. Smile 2 could decrease a solid 38.1 percent for a weekend take of $5.9 million, while The Wild Robot could decline by a slim 17.8 percent to follow closely behind with $5.6 million for the frame.
The weekend's largest new release is Sony and Miramax's Here. The Robert Zemeckis directed drama reunites Zemeckis with Forrest Gump stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. Here is playing in 2,647 locations this weekend and has Thursday preview shows beginning early at 2PM. Despite the re-uniting of Zemeckis, Hanks and Wright, there seems to be little interest in Here. The film's concept of events taking place in a single spot / room over time isn't an easy sell to begin with and the film's largely negative critical reviews won't help matters either this weekend, especially given that there are currently much better critically received films aimed at adult audiences in the marketplace, including Conclave, We Live in Time and Anora. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Here will debut in fourth place this weekend with a modest $4.8 million.
Last weekend Focus' Conclave was off to a very promising start with $6.60 million from a fairly modest 1,753 locations. Conclave has been playing especially well in New York and Los Angeles, so it's highly likely that the film could get an additional boost this weekend from the World Series now being over. The critically acclaimed Edward Berger directed film also looks to be going over pretty well with audiences after receiving a B+ rating on CinemaScore and has also had encouraging daily percentage holds thus far. Conclave could have an excellent second weekend hold by declining just 33.4 percent to round out this weekend's top five with $4.4 million.
