After a break-out performance at the box office over the past week, Disney and Pixar's Inside Out 2 will look to continue to impress at the box office this weekend in a very big way. Inside Out 2 blew past all expectations last weekend with a massive debut of $154.20 million. And during the midweek this week, the film has showed no early signs of slowing down anytime soon, as through Wednesday the six-day start for Inside Out 2 stands at $235.55 million. In addition to going over very well with critics, Inside Out 2 also looks to be going over very well with audiences after receiving a strong A rating on CinemaScore. In addition to benefiting from good word of mouth, Inside Out 2 will also benefit from holding onto an extremely high percentage of its showtimes from last weekend (at some theatres Inside Out 2 actually looks to be getting more daily showtimes this weekend than the film did last weekend), including IMAX screens and showtimes. About the only area of caution for Inside Out 2 heading into this weekend, is that the film's midweek daily grosses have no doubt been inflated by the film skewing towards both female moviegoers and younger moviegoers, and from the Juneteenth holiday falling on Wednesday. Thus far the six-day performance for Inside Out 2 has very closely mirrored the $237.16 million six-day start of Barbie last July. Last year Barbie declined 42.6 percent in its second weekend to gross $93.01 million. Inside Out 2 having a very similar second weekend performance feels very reasonable. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Inside Out 2 will decline just 40.3 percent this weekend to gross $92.0 million. That would represent the ninth largest second weekend gross of all-time, and would lead to the film's ten-day start closely approaching the $350 million domestic mark.

Sony's Bad Boys: Ride or Die was also very impressive last weekend with a second place, second weekend take of $33.77 million. That was down just 40.3 percent from the film's already stronger than expected opening weekend performance. While Bad Boys: Ride or Die did receive a clear boost last weekend from the Father's Day holiday on Sunday, the film was also dealing with losing the vast majority of its IMAX screens and showtimes to Inside Out 2 last weekend. Looking towards this weekend's hold, those two factors could balance one another out and lead to Bad Boys: Ride or Die having a similar percentage hold this weekend as the film did last weekend. Bad Boys: Ride or Die could decline a solid 37.8 percent to gross $21.0 million this weekend. That would likely bring the film's domestic total to the brink of the $150 million domestic mark.

The weekend's highest profile new wide release is Focus' The Bikeriders. The motorcycle themed drama set in the 1960s was directed by Jeff Nichols and stars Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, Tom Hardy and Michael Shannon. The Bikeriders was initially scheduled to be released by Disney and 20th Century last year, but after the film was removed from the release calendar, domestic rights for The Bikeriders were ultimately purchased by Focus. The Bikeriders is playing in 2,641 locations this weekend and has Thurday preview shows beginning early at 2PM. On the average, critical reviews for The Bikeriders have been good. Despite the film's cast and good critical reviews, anticipation for The Bikeriders feels somewhat subdued (films set in the past are often tough sells in the current theatrical environment). This weekend last year, Focus' Asteroid City grossed $9.05 million in its first weekend of wide release (in 1,675 locations). Asteroid City could prove to be a good comparison for The Bikeriders this weekend (despite the higher location count for The Bikeriders). BoxOfficeReport is predicting that The Bikeriders will debut in third place this weekend with $9.3 million.

Holdovers Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and The Garfield Movie will likely take fourth and fifth place respectively this weekend. In addition to continuing to benefit from good word of mouth, Disney and 20th Century's Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is also currently benefiting from playing in drive-in double features with Inside Out 2. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes could decline 27.7 percent this weekend to gross $4.0 million. After taking a clear hit from the arrival of Inside Out 2 last weekend, Sony's The Garfield Movie is likely to re-stabilize this weekend. The Garfield Movie could decrease 26.6 percent to take in $3.5 million for the frame.

Also opening in wide release this weekend is Vertical's The Exorcism. The Joshua John Miller directed R-rated horror film stars Russell Crowe. The exorcism themed horror film arrives just over a year after last year's exorcism themed horror film The Pope's Exorcist, which also starred Crowe. The Pope's Exorcist debuted with $9.01 million in April of last year, but as a Sony release, there was a bigger push behind that film. With that said, The Exorcism is going wide enough to likely have a bit of a presence at the box office this weekend. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that The Exorcism will open in sixth place this weekend with $3.0 million.
