Warner's The Batman will look to comfortably lead the box office for a third consecutive frame this weekend. The blockbuster superhero film is coming off of a very nice second weekend hold, which saw the film decline 50 percent to take in $66.51 million. The Batman has clearly been helped out by its very good critical reviews and strong word of mouth and that should continue this weekend. After holding onto a very high percentage of its showtimes per location last weekend, this weekend The Batman will have to deal with losing a larger percentage of its showtimes per location than it did last weekend; including losing some of its IMAX showtimes to Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie. While The Batman should be in store for a strong hold this weekend nonetheless, the loss in showtimes will make it more difficult for The Batman to have an even stronger hold this weekend. A 38 percent decline would transfer into a weekend take of $41.0 million for The Batman. That would represent the second largest third weekend performance since re-opening (behind only Spider-Man: No Way Home) and would already take The Batman beyond the $300 million domestic mark.

This weekend's highest profile new film is Crunchyroll and Funimation's release of Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie. The Sunghoo Park directed anime film is an adaptation of the manga series of the same name. Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie was released in Japan this past December, where it was a strong performer at the box office. The performance of Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie in Japan has helped build excitement for the film in North America (similar to Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train last year). While Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie isn't expected to match the $21.24 million start of Demon Slayer The Movie, the film shouldn't have a problem outpacing the $6.22 million start of last year's My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission. Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie will have Thursday preview shows beginning at 7PM and will also receive a boost this weekend from playing on select IMAX screens. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie will debut in second place this weekend with a very solid $12.4 million.

Last weekend saw Sony's Uncharted stabilize very nicely, as the adventure film declined just 17 percent to hold steady in second place with $9.25 million. Uncharted has continued to hold up exceptionally well throughout the midweek this week (though Spring Break is also boosting midweek grosses in general this week). With this weekend's new major releases all being aimed at very niche audiences and Uncharted holding onto a high percentage of its showtimes and locations this weekend, Uncharted will have an excellent chance of holding up similarly to last weekend. Another 17 percent decline would give Uncharted a third place take of $7.7 million this weekend.

This weekend will also see A24's X open in wide release. The erotic horror film was directed by Ti West and features Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, Martin Henderson, Brittany Snow and Scott Mescudi. X will have Thursday preview shows beginning at 7PM. Critical reviews for X have been especially strong and should give the film at least a bit of a box office boost this weekend. At the same time, it will still be difficult for X to break-out beyond hardcore horror fans this weekend. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that X will open in fourth place with $4.9 million.

As for some of this weekend's other holdovers, expect strong holds in general. United Artists Releasing and MGM's Dog could decline 16 percent to take fifth with $4.4 million, Sony's Spider-Man: No Way Home could decrease a similar 14 percent to follow in sixth with $3.5 million, Disney and 20th Century's Death on the Nile could slow 28 percent to land in seventh with $1.75 million and Universal's Sing 2 could decline a slim 10 percent to place in eighth with $1.45 million.

Receiving more modest launches this weekend are Focus' The Outfit and Sony's Umma. The Outfit, a crime thriller directed by Graham Moore and starring Mark Rylance, is opening in a semi-wide 1,324 locations. Umma, a supernatural horror film directed by Iris K. Shim and starring Sandra Oh, is opening in a moderate / semi-wide 805 locations. Both films have Thursday preview shows beginning at 7PM. While it will have the location count disadvantage, the PG-13 rated Umma may still prove to be slightly more audience friendly than the R-rated The Outfit this weekend. BoxOfficeReport is predicting respective opening weekend takes of $1.30 million for Umma and $1.25 million for The Outfit.
