| Today's revised global ($7.5 million) and international ($2.8 million) totals for Warner's The Little Things place the film's domestic start at $4.7 million, which is just under the film's weekend estimate. |
| Universal and DreamWorks Animation's The Croods: A New Age finished nearly on par with its studio estimate with a second place take of $1.818 million, while revised global and international estimates for
Warner's Wonder Woman 1984 keep its domestic take at $1.3 million this weekend. |

| Weekend Estimates Update: |
| Warner's The Little Things debuted comfortably in first place this weekend with an estimated $4.80 million. That represented the fifth largest three-day weekend debut since theatres re-opened back in
August and the largest debut for an R-rated film since the re-opening of theatres. This weekend's performance for the Denzel Washington-led thriller was especially impressive given that The Little Things opened day-and-date on
HBO Max and that the film had a fairly standard showtimes per-location average at many theatres. While our estimates are not exact, The Little Things likely had the second highest opening weekend per-showtime average among wide
releases since the re-opening of theatres (behind only fellow Warner Bros. release Wonder Woman 1984). The Little Things played in 2,171 locations this weekend, for a solid per-location average of $2,211. This weekend's
performance of The Little Things is a testament to Washington's continued drawing power and could also point towards moviegoers starting to become a bit more comfortable in returning to theatres. The Little Things was
directed by John Lee Hancock and also stars Rami Malek and Jared Leto. |
| The top DMA markets for The Little Things this weekend included Dallas / Ft. Worth, Phoenix, Houston, New York Metro (outside of New York City), Chicago (which opened back up this weekend), Atlanta, Denver,
Salt Lake City, Tampa and Orlando. While more exact data hasn't been provided on the performance of The Little Things on HBO Max this weekend, Andy Forssell, EVP and General Manager of HBO Max has noted that
"We are absolutely thrilled by how Warner Bros.' The Little Things is performing on HBO Max — it immediately shot up to number one, where it currently remains." The theatrical audience breakdown for The Little Things skewed
52 percent male, 48 percent female, a sizable 82 percent towards moviegoers over the age of 25 and 18 percent towards moviegoers under 25. The Little Things received a modest B- rating on CinemaScore, though that does suggest
that the film is going over slightly better with moviegoers than it has with critics (critical reviews for The Little Things have been mixed). Next weekend The Little Things
(and the rest of the marketplace will have to deal with Super Bowl LV), but The Little Things will have a good chance of holding up well in general throughout February due in part to only two new wide releases currently being
scheduled over the next three weeks (fellow Warner Bros. release Judas and the Black Messiah and Focus' Land – both on February 12). |
| Internationally, The Little Things took in an estimated $2.6 million from 19 markets this weekend. That places the film's global start at an estimated $7.6 million. The film's international performance
this weekend was led by Russia ($1.1 million) and Saudi Arabia ($0.87 million). The Little Things will open in Australia on Thursday, February 18. |
| Universal and DreamWorks Animation's The Croods: A New Age took in an estimated $1.84 million to hold steady in second place. The Croods: A New Age continued to display terrific holding power, as
the film increased 2 percent over last weekend's already strong hold. The Croods: A New Age continues to benefit from good critical reviews, strong word of mouth, holding onto screens and showtimes and the lack of new competition
for family audiences. Through Sunday, the estimated 68-day total for The Croods: A New Age stands at $43.95 million. That gives the film a healthy current total gross to opening weekend ratio of 4.52 to 1. The Croods: A New Age
should continue to hold up very well until Warner's Tom & Jerry enters the marketplace on February 26. This weekend also saw The Croods: A New Age pass the $100 million international mark after taking in an estimated
$1.3 million internationally for the frame (from 17 markets). The film's respective international and global totals stand at $100.4 million internationally and $144.4 million globally. Current total grosses by market for
The Croods: A New Age include $53.4 million in China, $15.2 million in Australia and $12.3 million in Russia. |
| Upon no longer being available on HBO Max, Warner's Wonder Woman 1984 held up very nicely this weekend to remain in third place with an estimated $1.30 million. Based on the film's revised totals, it
appears that last weekend's performance for Wonder Woman 1984 was closer to $1.50 million (than $1.60 million), which would place this weekend's decline at roughly just 13 percent. There is no doubt that Wonder Woman 1984
got a small theatrical boost this weekend from no longer being on HBO Max (for now), especially since the showtimes per-location average for Wonder Woman 1984 took a hit at many theatres this weekend. The estimated 38-day total
for Wonder Woman 1984 stands at $39.20 million. Internationally, Wonder Woman 1984 took in an estimated $1.1 million this weekend from 42 markets. Through Sunday, respective international and global totals for
Wonder Woman 1984 stand at $112.8 million internationally and $152.0 million globally. Current total grosses by market for Wonder Woman 1984 include $25.5 million in China, $18.2 million in Australia,
$8.8 million in Taiwan, $6.0 million in Brazil and $5.2 million in Japan. |
| After leading the domestic box office each of the past two weekends, Open Road and Briarcliff's The Marksman landed in fourth place this weekend with an estimated $1.25 million. The Marksman declined a
reasonable 38 percent from last weekend's performance. Despite good word of mouth and no competition from the NFL Playoffs this weekend, The Marksman did take a relative hit from the new direct competition the film faced from
The Little Things. In the bigger picture, The Marksman continues to have a very respectable run with an estimated 17-day take of $7.83 million. The Liam Neeson-led The Marksman is running 18 percent behind the
$9.56 million grossed by fellow Neeson-led action thriller Honest Thief through 17 days of wide release (and an additional week of Canada-only release) last fall, though it should be reminded that The Marksman has been playing
in fewer locations than Honest Thief did. |
| Meanwhile, Sony's Monster Hunter took fifth place this weekend with an estimated $0.74 million, while Universal's News of the World followed in sixth with an estimated $0.54 million. Monster Hunter
continued to hold up better than News of the World this weekend, as Monster Hunter declined a slim 10 percent, while News of the World decreased by a solid 31 percent. Respective estimated total grosses stand at
$11.14 million for Monster Hunter through 45 days and at a fairly similar $10.36 million for News of the World through 38 days. Prior to the release of both films back in December, it was expected that News of the World
would have the better holding power of the two, but thus far Monster Hunter has a current total gross to opening weekend ratio of 5.06 to 1, in comparison to a ratio of 4.60 to 1 for News of the World. |
| In other box office news, this weekend wasn't kind to moderate releases in the marketplace. After a respectable start last weekend, Gravitas Ventures' Our Friend declined a sizable 44 percent
(despite playing in an additional 275 locations this weekend, for a total of 818 locations), to take in an estimated $0.135 million. The film's ten-day total stands at $0.45 million. Bleecker Street's Supernova started out with
an estimated $98,670 from 330 locations (for a per-location average of $299), while Disney's re-issue of 2000's Remember the Titans only managed an estimated $65,000 from 730 locations (for a per-location average of $89). An
official weekend estimate for Sony's re-issue of 1993's Groundhog Day (which is playing in 845 locations) wasn't released today, but unofficial estimates have the film very slightly ahead of Remember the Titans this weekend. |
