| With actuals, Universal and DreamWorks Animation's The Croods: A New Age ended up slightly higher than its weekend estimate with a $3.061 million first place take. |
| Other weekend actuals for the frame include: Half Brothers ($495,025 from 1,386 locations), Freaky ($314,715 from 1,235 locations), The War with Grandpa ($264,869 from 1,080 locations),
All My Life ($209,895 from 965 locations), Come Play ($176,120 from 610 locations), Honest Thief ($135,220 from 625 locations), Let Him Go ($123,880 from 765 locations) and
Wild Mountain Thyme ($95,360 from 450 locations). |

| Universal and DreamWorks Animation's The Croods: A New Age took in an estimated $3.01 million this weekend to lead the weekend box office for a third consecutive frame. Universal Filmed Entertainment Group
has now led the domestic box office for seven consecutive weekends. That streak is likely to come to an end next weekend with the release of Sony's Monster Hunter this coming Friday. On the heels of last weekend's sizable
(but expected) percentage decline, The Croods: A New Age stabilized quite nicely this weekend by decreasing 32 percent. With a stronger than expected 19-day haul of $24.26 million, The Croods: A New Age is now the second
highest grossing film domestically since theatres re-opened back in August (just ahead of the $23.84 million current total of The New Mutants and behind only the $57.80 million current total of Tenet).
The Croods: A New Age played in 2,115 locations this weekend, which gave the film a per-location average of $1,423 for the frame. |
| Internationally, The Croods: A New Age grossed an estimated $8.4 million from 12 international markets. This weekend's international performance included a $0.927 million debut in Mexico and a $6.6 million
take in China (where the film has grossed an estimated $45.9 million through Sunday). Additional international totals by market for The Croods: A New Age include $1.24 million in Saudi Arabia, $0.894 million in the U.A.E. and
$0.732 million in Singapore. Respective international and global totals for The Croods: A New Age stand at $52.1 million and $76.3 million. The Croods: A New Age will next open in Spain on December 23, in Russia on
December 24 and in Australia on December 26. |
| Focus' Half Brothers held steady in second place this weekend with an estimated $0.490 million. The Luke Greenfield directed buddy comedy held up very well this weekend, as the film was down just 30 percent
from last weekend's debut. While critical reviews for Half Brothers have been mostly negative, the film has been going over significantly better with audiences. Half Brothers also benefited this weekend from the film's
showtimes per location average not dipping much at many theatres in comparison to last weekend. Half Brothers played in 1,386 locations this weekend, which gave the film a per-location average of $354. The estimated ten-day total
for Half Brothers stands at $1.38 million. |
| While an official studio estimate hasn't been reported for the film, unofficial estimates have Warner's re-issue of 2003's Elf taking third place this weekend with roughly $0.400 million for the frame. That
represents an estimated 25 percent increase over last weekend. Unofficially, the 31-day total for the re-issue of Elf is in the area of $1.7 million. Other unofficial estimates for fellow Warner Bros. re-releases this weekend include
roughly $0.250 million each for both 2004's The Polar Express and 1989's National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and roughly $0.190 million for 2017's Wonder Woman
(which played on select IMAX screens this weekend and was re-issued just in time for the upcoming Christmas Day launch of Wonder Woman 1984). |
| Universal's Freaky took in an estimated $0.315 million in its fifth weekend of release. After initial front-loading, the low-budget Freaky has held up better in recent weeks and was down a very solid
34 percent this weekend. The 31-day total for Freaky stands at $8.23 million. Internationally, Freaky grossed an estimated $0.258 million this weekend from 32 international markets. Respective estimated totals for
Freaky through Sunday stand at $6.0 million internationally and $14.2 million globally. |
| 101 Studios' The War with Grandpa followed with an estimated $0.267 million. The family comedy held up very well this weekend by declining a slim 16 percent from last weekend. Thanks in part to continued
strong holding power; The War with Grandpa has grossed an estimated $17.96 million through 66 days. That gives the film a strong current total gross to opening weekend ratio of 4.96 to 1. |
| In its second weekend of release, Universal's All My Life declined a solid 42 percent to take in an estimated $0.215 million. All My Life has grossed just an estimated $0.696 million through ten days, but
that is also right in line with the film's very modest pre-release expectations. |
| In other box office news, Bleecker Street's Wild Mountain Thyme was off to a modest start in limited with release with an estimated $100,466 from 450 locations. That gave the John Patrick Shanley directed film starring
Emily Blunt and Jamie Dornan a per-location average of $223 for the frame. Poor critical reviews didn't help matters for Wild Mountain Thyme and the film also opened day-and-date on PVOD this weekend. |
