The Matrix Reloaded earned $31.5 million on its second day of release. The $31.5 million take marked the third largest Friday gross of all time (behind the $39.4 million and $32.3 million respective grosses of Spider-Man and Harry Potter), and brings the film's 2-day gross to $74.0 million. That figure places The Matrix Reloaded 36% ahead of the $54.5 million 2-day gross of Attack of the Clones last May. However, with The Matrix Reloaded being less family friendly than the Star Wars franchise, that percentage should ease up some over the rest of the weekend. With that said, The Matrix Reloaded appears to be set for a weekend gross of $90 million - $100 million (I am currently projecting $97 million) and a 4-day debut of $132.5 million - $142.5 million, which would mark a 20% - 30% increase over Attack of the Clones for the same timeframe.
