Iron Man earned an estimated $38.5 m on Friday (which includes Thursday night grosses of roughly $5.5 m). There's more room for error when dealing with larger grosses, but at the moment, I'm expecting Iron Man to have a slightly better 3-day to Friday ratio than that of Spider-Man 3 last year (2.53). Since Iron Man is a first instalment, it should be less frontloaded than S-M3, but at the same time Iron Man also opened a few hours earlier than did S-M3, which also has to be factored in. I'm projecting a 3-Day to Friday (including Thursday grosses) ratio of 2.56 - 2.61, which would transfer into a gross of $98.5 m - $100.5 m, with $93.0 m - $95.0 m of that being earned during the weekend. - D.G.
