A new feature I've been working on for BOR recently is the LoveHate Rate system.
Basically, it's a single average score that is one part Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, one part Metacritic’s Metascore, one part Flixster's User Score and one part IMDb Rating, with a bit of re-weighting also thrown in.
In having two critic-based elements and two-audience based elements, part of the goal of the LoveHate Rate is to indicate where average reception to a film lies in between critics and audiences.
I currently have yearly charts for the system going back to 2009 and plan to eventually go back to at least 2000.
The chart for this year can be found at:

While the chart for 2016 is located at:

Re: LoveHate Rate
The initial ratings for this weekend's new releases are as follows:
John Wick: Chapter 2 - 8.942
The LEGO Batman Movie - 8.623
Fifty Shades Darker - 3.942
The early score for John Wick: Chapter 2 (which will come down over time) is extremely impressive and is the type of score you would normally see from one of the year's top 5 or top 10 films.
In comparison, here are current ratings for the predecessors:
The LEGO Movie - 8.791
John Wick - 7.801
Fifty Shades of Grey - 3.923

Re: LoveHate Rate
Initial ratings for this weekend's new releases:
A Cure for Wellness - 5.175
Fist Fight - 4.921
The Great Wall - 4.918
Seems fitting that the initial ratings are so close to one another this week.
Only 3 of 16 2017 wide releases thus far have LoveHate Rates of at least 7.0 (John Wick: Chapter 2, The LEGO Batman Movie & Split). In all likelihood we'll get a fourth film in the group next weekend with the release of Get Out.

Re: LoveHate Rate
It has been a bit since I have added some more LoveHate Rate charts for earlier years, but going to try to get up charts for 2006 & 2007 within the next week or so.
Re: LoveHate Rate
I didn't realize "your name" was that highly rated, I'll be giving it a watch to find out why.Box3OfficeReport wrote: ↑Sat Aug 05, 2017 12:31 pmHaven't seen Your Name yet myself. Have been surprised that phen375 works that it has been able to move back into the top spot for the year, with the handful of really well received films we saw this summer.
