Poetry by Daniel Garris - Cinema Poem 4

The forbidden image of desire
A hollow wandering inept man
For a time in love once
No longer attached by the hand

Sharing the same void in space
But between them a growing span
The scene still looks the same
Only empty of any meaning it had

He is more concerned with art
In conflict with his job’s demand
Blowing her feelings to the side
Like any other grain of sand

Whether justified or overreaction
Of him she can no longer stand
Distant floats the exotic flower
Ever as beautiful but never as mad

The artist takes note this time
Her anger he fails to understand
The answer is written on his face
Yet he is unable to see the brand

In vanity he reaches towards her
Too late to change what he began
Like their love, forever vanished
The goddess of golden strand
