Poetry by Daniel Garris - Cinema Poem 1

Lights dimming above the stage
Struggling so to still be seen
There is but an empty audience
Both in reality and the dream

Out of touch with changing moods
Even though you're of the right
So many visions left to share
Before the final dance into night

A performance only one can hear
With as much grace as any before
Your song you continue to sing
While being pushed out the door

Having grown tired of the masses
In the devotion of one you gleam
To her you gladly extend your hand
Together rediscovering lost esteem

With time she becomes a sensation
Her being shining endlessly bright
How elegantly her shadow dances
As it devours your fading light

One last performance of nostalgia
Beside another who THEY also ignore
Immersed within every lasting note
Until the violin falls to the floor

Lights dimming above the stage
Struggling so to still be seen
There is but an empty audience
Both in reality and the dream
