Poetry by Daniel Garris - Poem 96 |

Comet racing towards the sun
Such confidence of acceleration
With its essence melting away
In yearning of radiant creation
Comet racing closer to the sun
Magnifying its limited reflection
Blossoming magnificence on display
In pursuit of universal perfection
Comet passes around the sun
In its most glorious animation
Engaged within a tango of pain
With cosmic partner of radiation
Comet drifts away from the sun
Ballroom dance ends in frustration
Expression can no longer maintain
In the discontent of deceleration
Comet loses memory of the sun
Drifting out in melancholy isolation
Its icy soul only longs to retain
Every last fragment of absorption
Comet crawls towards the sun
With renewed hope of dedication
That experience will help attain
A higher order of transformation
Comet racing towards the sun
Such confidence of acceleration
With its essence melting away
In yearning of radiant creation
Comet forever circles the sun
Reborn only to come undone
Until that final everlasting day
When voyager and star are one
