Poetry by Daniel Garris - Poem 89

Reflection dimmed by brightest light
Self-conscious of this bleakest reality
Striving for enrichment most humble
Struggling to illuminate in this plight

Exhausted of the frail inverted stare
So futile in masking its inadequacies
Incompetent in improvement's quest
In frustration breaks the pious mirror

Shards of imagination remain in sight
Screaming praises of the most hollow
No matter how furious their stale song
The portrait endlessly grows less bright

Turning away from the eroding glare
Before eternal absorption by darkness
Progression of self I must rediscover
If a brighter reflection I am to bare
