Poetry by Daniel Garris - Poem 87

I saw a photo just the other day
Wasn't really sure what to think
And no matter how hard I try
Of my mind most confused
Its imprint just won't leave

Things that didn't stay the same
For ages you prayed they would
And no matter how hard I try
I can't help but yearn to go back
And change them if only I could

As the moon falls inches further
I will forget like the times before
And no matter how hard I try
Another image will be a'knocking
Loudly on my mental door

Those days beyond the horizon lie
Until then this boat remains adrift
And no matter how hard I try
I question had only I been stronger
If only if...if only if...if only if

I saw a photo just the other day
Wasn't really sure what to think
And no matter how hard I try
Of my mind most confused
Its imprint just won't leave
