End Curve

Poetry by Daniel Garris - Poem 78

Beware of the spiral, girl
Before it pulls you directly in
Praying on your latest obsession
The spiral will always win

I looked into the spiral, darling
Right directly into its eyes
No matter how hard I fought it
The spiral devoured all my time

The spiral will change you, girl
In ways I can't begin to explain
Absorbing all of your thoughts
Forced to love the spiral's pain

Addictive is the spiral, darling
It places your mind at total ease
And when it pulls slowly away
The spiral has you at your knees

If you escape the spiral, girl
The victory will be short lived
Another curve with a new obsession
The spiral takes all you have to give

The spiral has me dizzy, darling
So bad I can no longer complain
The struggle has entirely left me
The spiral and I are one and the same

Beware of the spiral, girl
Before it pulls you directly in
Praying on your latest obsession
The spiral will always win
