Warner’s A Star is Born took in $2.928 million on Wednesday to lead the daily box office for a third consecutive day. A Star is Born continued to display strong holding power yesterday as the
film was down just 25.6 percent from Tuesday and down a very solid 36.2 percent from last Wednesday. A Star is Born has grossed $104.402 million after thirteen days of wide release. That places the film an impressive
20.4 percent ahead of the $86.728 million thirteen-day take of fellow Warner Bros. release Ocean’s 8 earlier this year. BoxOfficeReport expects A Star is Born to continue to hold up well this weekend with a predicted
third weekend gross of $18.5 million. |
Sony’s Venom held steady in second place with $2.239 million. In the process, Venom passed the $150 million domestic mark yesterday. The thirteen-day total for Venom stands at a stronger
than expected $150.919 million. Venom is running 3.7 percent ahead of the $145.506 million thirteen-day haul of Ant-Man and the Wasp earlier this year. Yesterday Venom declined 40.1 percent from Tuesday and a
sizable 52.7 percent from last Wednesday (when the film was still playing on IMAX screens). BoxOfficeReport is predicting a third weekend take of $16.5 million for Venom. |
Universal and DreamWorks’ First Man grossed $1.257 million to continue to claim third place. First Man was down a solid 29.6 percent from Tuesday’s performance. The film received an added
boost yesterday from being a daily MoviePass option. First Man passed the $20 million domestic mark yesterday and has grossed $20.361 million in six days. That places the film a slim 2.2 percent ahead of the
$19.913 million six-day start of 2015’s Bridge of Spies. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a second weekend gross of $9.3 million for First Man. |
Fox’s Bad Times at the El Royale was up one spot from Tuesday to place in fourth on Wednesday with $604,831. Bad Times at the El Royale decreased 37.7 percent from Tuesday. The six-day start
for Bad Times at the El Royale stands at a modest $9.522 million, which is below expectations. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Bad Times at the El Royale will gross $3.3 million in its second weekend. |
Sony’s Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween was down one spot from Tuesday to round out Wednesday’s top five with $600,573. Goosebumps 2 was down a sharp 49.7 percent from Tuesday’s performance
(which received a boost from the film being a daily MoviePass option on Tuesday). The six-day total for Goosebumps 2 stands at $18.387 million. That is in line with expectations and places the film 32.4 percent behind the
$27.205 million six-day haul of 2015’s Goosebumps. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a second weekend take of $9.2 million for Goosebumps 2. |
